The Autobot/Decepticon count comes to 42 robots in all in this film.
That's damn impressive.
This movie was made for IMAX, no doubt about that.
And with 42 robots in all. Kinda makes you long for at least 25 specific JOES in the GI Joe movie.
But, you don't have to sign checks for computer generated robots.
Talked to a guy who saw GI Joe: ROC at a test screening and he is a JOE fan and he said he really, really liked it.

You may not need to sign a check to a CGI character but you certainly have pay for its creation and that is no small amount $$$ I am afraid. Just ask ILM.

Saw it this afternoon. I was very pleased.
Bit's I liked;
The Terminator styley Decepti-blonde.
Prime's epic battle in the forest against Starscream, Megs and the Black-Out Knock-Off. 'I'll take you all on!'
More armed forces (tanks, guns, planes, aircraft carriers and ground personell) than you can shake a stick at. If Joe has half the armament and troops it'll look awesome.
Megan Fox and her Decepticon-in-a-Box.
Mudflap and Jolt... whilst they were still a combining ice-cream truck.
Meg's base on Saturn.
Sam's mum eating hash-cakes.
There's a lot less human characters - a few new ones, but a lot less over all, the transformers are clear and easy to identify, the battles look good and the plot (although there are a few holes) rattled along at such a pace that you barely noticed.
Oh and Prime dies.

He dies about 45 mins into the film, and then it's revealed that the Fallen can only be defeated by a 'Prime' 'cause he was once one of the 13 or so original Primes, and Optimus Prime is the last descendant of the Primes... Sam, Bumbles, Volt, Mudflap, and company get Agent Simmons out of retirement at a Deli where he works with his mum and the go find Jetfire, who leads them to the Matrix which they use to resurect Prime.
And Devestator has Huuuge Wrecking Balls.
I laughed for about a minute.
No one else really gets a look in. Ironhide, Sideswipe, Arcee and Ratchet turn up a fair bit to support NEST (GI Joe essentially... trained to take out Decepticon 'Terrorists'), and the Deceps get about 15 supporting Transformers that turn up and to get shot at by the humans and the Autobots. They look like troop builders, you can't really distinguish them, and they get shot up.
I would also say that the 42 count is a little off, if you include the insecticon-combiner that Ravage vomits up.
He hurls thousands of ball bearings into an air shaft, that all transform into little insecticons, that then all merge up into a (very thin!) human sized infiltrating insect.

Arcee x3 (She's three transformers!)
Combining Insecticons (xlots)
Stealth bug Insecticon (looked a bit like Kickback)
Big construction Decepticon (Prime takes out in the trailer... that's NOT Devestator... Dev's is MUCH bigger!)
6 Decepticon un-named / unidentifiable generic bad-guys
6 household appliances turned into Deceps by a shard of the cube
Easily more than 50.
