Try My Bloody Valentine 3D
It has some intense parts mixed with some gore. It,s only good for 1 viewing but damn, what a trip for the first time.
The Decent was quite good and it makes you feel claustrophobic which intensifies the mood
Salems lot scared the shit out of me.....as an adult. It,s the stuff you do not see that freaks you out and the scratching at the window.....holly hell. My roommate and I watched this flick one night and mind you, we can handle our horror quite well. By the end of the movie, all the doors were locked (deadbolt and all), lights were on and when we went to our respective rooms, doors were locked and room lights left on........that movie scared the crap out f us
Another one is the 2nd Aliens film. Yeah some might call me a wussy with a P but it still gets to me. That dinging noise from their movement detector drives me crazy. Funny story.....the same roommate and I was watching a marathon of these flicks as I have the full box set. During the second movie we were semi relaxed, talking back and forth and enjoying the show. The lights were off and the only light coming in was from the TV set. It was raining out side and when that happens we tend to get water bugs in the house. Well,my bud had his hands cupped behind his head in the lazy boy. One of those water bugs dropped right in his hands when the Aliens did it,s thing. He screamed bloody murder, jumped at least 3 feet in the air and took off down the hallway. I have never laughed so hard in my life......excellent timing by a damn bug

I jumped a couple times watching George Romero's Diary of the Dead...It was an ok movie as far as zombie flicks go, but there were a couple parts that made me jump...

The first "Halloween" scared me so much I couldn't watch another after it. The third one's plot, while without Michael Myers, is just plain creepy and I avoid that one as well.

here are some i think are conceptually frightening...
This movie is disturbing because of how 'natural' the atrocities seem to become, and what it says about the human condition...
these movies scare the hell out of me, especially the old man, and the third one with the mirrors.
exorcist 1 & 3
both of these movies are brilliant, i especially respect the third film by being unsettling solely through dialogue with very little action sequences...
lord of illusions
the mentality of nicks is more frightening than the violence, the way that you begin to understand his mentality, and when swan gives in at the end because he sees his point, its disturbing. any movie that lets you get in the antagonist's head is usually scary.\
ive tripped on some over the counter medication that was exactly like this movie. ROFL im not kidding!

"My Bloody Valentine 3D" was unique as it was more of a murder mystery amid all the gory killing. It also presents all the clues, but it surprises you when you find out who's really behind it. Same goes for "Perfect Blue". You may THINK you know who's doing it until the end when it's revealed who's after the heroine and why they're doing it...it was put out there, but the audience doesn't think about it until then.

Anything with Ben Affleck scares the crap out of me, lol.
The Poltergeist movies
The first Hellraiser
Those are movies that i think are disturbing.
The Shining and Phantasm, too.
Cobra has won. The Battle is over. Or is it?
The Reign of Tears has begun! Check out my original G.I.Joe story!

Man, you all are wussies. If you really want some High Octane Nightmare Fuel watch any ep of Doctor Who written by Steven Moffat. Any given ep of the new series has moments that could give your kids horrible nightmares. "Blink" gave EVERYONE nightmares. And then the two-parter he did with carniverous shadows (yes, you read that right) that has so much nightmare potential that it needs to be seen to be believed. He seems intent on proving that you don't need gore to send EVERYONE behind the sofa. If I'd seen this madness when I was 7yrs old I'd still be traumatized. And then "Midnight" was Nightmare AND Paranoia fuel.
The Buffy emmy winning ep, "Hush" gets point too. Having your heart surgically removed by "The Gentlemen" while you can't even scream is a crowning moment of scary.

Yeah, I think the scariest movies are psychologically driven. It's rare when you can get a good mesh between the psychologically frightening and gory.
It may just be me, but I always thought that 'Event Horizon' was a pretty good mesh. Scary and gory. My personal preference! It's mah fav-rit.
