The movie was straight. I have no problems with nothing. Marcus was cool, I just don't get the accolades he's getting for portraying a half-breed Terminator. He was on point. The ending was good. The 'heart' thing wasn't a prob with me. It is the future. Overall, good movie. I liked Wolverine better, and thats because I'm a fan to the core. Star Trek was great cuz the producers, writers, and director understood the source material. They all have there qualities. I'll save my ratings for a thread about top summer movies.

**SPOILERS**
I watched it and enjoyed it. I never really wanted to see the world that adult John Connor existed in , and was always satisfied with just the flashbacks (post-apocalyptic world settings aren't my thing), but I thought it was pretty cool. Action sequences were pretty insane. Yeah the Moto-Terminator/Harvester sequence jacked Transformers and the Bat-Pod pretty hard, but that scene was sick. Losing Marcus sucked, which seems like a Terminator Universe theme now, "Good Terminators always have to sacrifice themselves, as a symbol of humanity". I popped at the Schwarzenegger cameo, even if it was just CGI. But did the fight have to end in another factory!? I swear, if you actually think about how the Terminator timeline is so screwed up, it'll make your head hurt... and this movie didn't do a thing to clear any of that up. It was a prequel and a sequel at the same time...how the hell does that happen!? Damn grandfather paradoxes! (*waiting for a snarky nerd to correct me, lol) Good theory on the heart, Samantha. I really wish they would've let him die, it was supposed to happen eventually. I mean wasn't T-101 /Uncle Bob (Arnold) supposed to kill him in the future? It would've been a much stronger ending. Audiences really have to get over not wanting the protagonist to die. and the baby being the "real" John Connor would've been an excellent twist. I really want to see Skynet fall in the end. It's the moment I've been waiting 20 - plus years to see. Hopefully, the sequels will be made, but Salvation is doing less than stellar numbers I read. And on another note. You think Bale is getting tired of starring in these high profile flicks, and the supporting guy gets all the kudos, lol?

Did you not pay attention during the action sequences? Half the big name directors out there today haven't come up with sequences as exhilarating as the ones in this film. The opening copter crash with the cameras rotating 360 on a steadicam rig and following connor out was nothing short of brilliant.
McG knows how to direct. People, like you, enjoy giving him shit because of his monicker. |

McG knows how to direct. People, like you, enjoy giving him shit because of his monicker. Brilliant? C'mon. It was a lowest common denominator popcorn flick. And that's what it was meant to be. I'd just rather have the director of a film assume his audience will be intelligent, and not have to shove "style over substance" down our throats. |

Yeah, you're right. The movie was the best ever. It was "brilliant". Because the action was good. Yes, the action was good. I never said it wasn't.

I said that action sequence was brilliant, and it is. Lets see you direct something better. The movie is very good, and wholly entertaining. Again, never said it was the best movie ever. I don't believe there was ever one point where the director didn't trust the audience. He lead them through he story. You want to see a director that doesnt trust his audience? Spike Lee. The man does it great til the end where he decides, you all arent smart enough here is everything packed down your throat in a 5 minute recap. Watch "Bamboozled" to know what I'm talking about. And yes, you are hating on McG because of his name, proven by the bashing him for directing CA...the movies made money, lots of it, and they were well made, even if a lot of the content was crap. You can hate on it all you want, but I dare you to do better. |

Its a set piece on a gimble of some sort and the camera is a special rig made to rotate 360 on axis. I'd have to watch it again because it was either a camera on a crane or a camera on a steadicam...and I have a seen a steadicam with that very rig on it before. Either way, the whole scene and the actual camera operating were phenomenal. |

Wolverine is one of the worst POS films of the year. And while I liked Star Trek...it was just an action film with the badge ST slapped on it. The movie was VERY flawed and way overhyped. |

How about the 5 minute recap where Skynet explains everything to "Marcus" (us, in other words) Oh cool, Charlie's Angels made money, that means they were good films in bizarro world I guess. How does me bashing Charlie's Angels prove I was bashing his name? I'm shaking my head here. Ok man, I'm done with this and don't want this to turn into a battle between our tastes. I felt the directing was mediocre to bad at times, sans the action sequences, they were cool. Last edited by Cold Slither; 05-28-2009 at 09:13 PM.. |

Now for the real kicker. I have read that Connor was going to die at the end of Terminator Salvation but after the info got leaked out and completely ripped apart by the fans the finale scene was re-shoot and Connor didn't die like he was meant to. The alternate scene was to have the resistance taking the flesh off of Connors dead body and putting it on Marcus, thus making Connor a Terminator with a heart. Like I said that was just what I had read on the web and that information could be completely wrong, but it does make one wonder.
he's also no Jonathan Mostow when it comes to Terminator as well! |
