I am going to see it on Saturday. From what I have seen thus far, this movie looks great.

This Trek may actually be the film which makes Star Trek what it should have been.
My only question is if this is a "reboot" or is it just set back in the days as the adventures of young kirk. I say this because the ship looks alot more advanced than the original star ship and I was thinking maybe it is a true reboot. Hell, they have to make it look modern and flashy enough for us to stomach it but I am still just curious. |

There is a prequel tpb out by IDW called Countdown, and it explains a lot of what happens before the movie takes place.
After reading the book, I'm much more excited to see it. I don't get why people keep saying REBOOT, as it's not really that at all. Anyway, really looking forward to this! |

I read somewhere that they tried to make it "more Star Wars, and lest Star Trek." Works for me.

and i liked it, but i know alot of diehard trekkies are going to hate it. i'd put at 5 on my top star trek films, behind 1.wrath of kahn, 2. voyage home, 3. first contact, 4. undiscovered country
mild spoilers here, first the bad. the second half of the film wasn't as solid as the first. nero wasn't a great villian as i had hoped he would be, but he wasn't terrible. the sets were great except for engineering, which looked like my highschool boiler room with some laptops and desks spread around. and i was hoping for more scenes with the 2 two spocks together. the good, chris pine was great as kirk! there was some shatner in his kirk but not so much that he looked silly. watching the film you really felt he was the same kirk..just a bit younger. he had that kirk swagger. quinto was a good spock and his scenes with pine were true highlights in the movie, especially in the weaker second half of the film. the action and the effects were great. and it was a joy to see nimoy as spock again on the big screen. lastly it left me looking forward to seeing this new crew again in another trek flick. |

It was so nice to see Star Trek look cool again from the story, effects, and acting...I liked it so much more than I expected.
Damn, now I want to go buy all those toys I've been passing up. |

Yes, great movie. Going to see it again in IMAX. Plus, the Orion (green skin) girl that Kirk fools around with is Rachel Nichols, who of course is Scarlett in the GIJOE movie.

I'm going to pick up the BluRay.
I did grab a little shuttlecraft with sound FX from Burget King though. |
