UPDATE 5/6/09: A source close to Fox tells us that the Deadpool and second "Wolverine" movies are coming from the two Easter Eggs at the end of X-Men Origins: Wolverine:
"We are developing a spinoff with Deadpool, as well. It is one of the two different "Easter egg" scenes after the credits of WOLVERINE and hints at two different movies that are coming FROM THEM. One is the Japan backstory which was announced earlier, the other is about Deadpool. The film, which would be produced by Lauren Shuler Donner and Marvel, has Ryan Reynolds attached and would be a complete exploration of this unique character - his origins, his emergence as the Merc with with the Mouth, etc. We are looking for writers as well." Well, this can turn out well. Last edited by yourfacehere; 05-06-2009 at 01:39 PM.. |

Shouldn't Stryker have drowned after "walking" three miles? And how does Logan get his jacket back for the X-Men trilogy? And how can they do X-Men Origins:First Class with Bobby Drake & Warren Worthington III already established in the X-Trilogy.
I loved Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson, but other than explaining the comic-accurate reason for the name Deadpool, I didn't care much for what they did with Deadpool, especially when they could have used the already established, little-less-well-known Marvel mutant character, "Mimic", to achieve the same thing. It'd be cool to see a Ryan Reynolds-Deadpool movie where he breaks the fourth wall. (Talks to the audience, like Ferris Bueller, or Bernie Mac.) Quote:

I heard about this a few weeks ago from Jason, my buddy who works down in Hollywood (Why didn't I say anything? Go see my other threads where either no one pays attention or they all call me phoney). Regardless of that <<<, I'm gonna tell you what he told me. Unlike some current rumors going around, it will not be a prequel. It will indeed take place after the Wolverine movie, and no, he wasn't a clone. He becomes insane (like in the comics) because of voices in his head, a result of all the DNA mixing (I have no idea if that's comic accurate), and no, Deadpool wasn't a clone. The eye beams and stuff (which he got from the DNA mixing) will dissipate by the time the movie begins, and all that will remain are his fighting skills and the regeneration, which doesn't dissipate due to what it does. As far as the plot, I don't know much, as Jason doesn't either. One thing he has heard though, is that they've thrown a name around for a villain, but I doubt it'll happen as he's primarily an Avengers villain- Taskmaster, as some rival merc. Marvel apparently had a few ideas cooking with Fox, and were only waiting for Wolverine to come out to gauge reactions before going public/further with a Deadpool flick. As for a Gambit flick? SOme producer chick (I don't know who she is and can't remember her name) wants a Gambit movie, and ZFox is talking to her about it, but they're more enthusiastic about Wolverine 2, First Class and Deadpool spin-off. I hope this info helps. If Jason can get his hands on a script when it gets approved, I'll gladly share it. |

Voices in the head, no matter how they explain it, is part of the comic, now get me some yellow boxes and it will be great. And Taskmaster would be great as the baddie. The story they did with him in Cable/Deadpool was funny and hysterical. But whatever they decide to do, it's going to be great (Hopefully ) |

I'm kind of expecting him to shoot lasers out of his eyes in the comic as well. As a joke.

The movie could be the original Deadpool fighting Stryker's cloned Deadpool. I'd take either plot as long as we see Deadpool in a comic accurate costume. Due to his insanity/personality, the costume can easily be explained in a live action movie. They did a great costume for Spiderman, no reason they can't for Deadpool.
