Quote:
The past is new again for agent 007: The next James Bond film will be called "Spectre."
Director Sam Mendes announced the name of the 24th official Bond film Thursday at England's Pinewood Studios. Austrian actor Christoph Waltz will join Daniel Craig in the cast. Craig makes his fourth appearance as the rugged British secret service agent. Ralph Fiennes, Rory Kinnear, Naomie Harris and Ben Whishaw will be reprising their roles from 2012's "Skyfall." Newcomers to the franchise include Monica Bellucci, Lea Seydoux, Andrew Scott and Dave Bautista. Shooting for the film, due for release in late 2015, begins Monday.

I've not seen a DC 007 flick and I won't. Bond should be suave and charismatic and I didn't see one ounce of that in any of the pre-Casino publicity or trailers. I still didn't see it for QOS or Skyfall. I saw some bits of CR when my dad watched it on DVD and from that and the trailer it looked like a misguided attempt to ape Bourne. The films also seem to have lost any sense of humour, which to me was what set them apart from the MI series or the Bourne series.
I might give them a shot one DC leaves, I might not. |

I might give them a shot one DC leaves, I might not. The problem is he's like Brosnan's Bond - he's good in the role but the movies aren't. Have you ever watched the Harry Palmer movies? They're really cool ''anti-Bond'' movies (operations are fronted by old, smoking ladies, Palmer doesn't get any gadgets, he's not very good in fights, they're all set in dingy, industrial wastelands, etc.)

The past 3 Bond movies have been my favorite ones since the Connery ones. The Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan ones were just horrible. I hope they never go back to that style. And it's impossible to rely on gadgets now. They've all been done. The iPhone is better than anything Q ever dreamed up.
I thought Sam Mendes did a great job with "Skyfall", apart from the whole escape scene. It was just too convenient. I'm glad he was able to bring the core cast back for this. Not too crazy about the title though. "Spectre" just seems a bit too plain. |

Range Rovers Customized for James Bond's 'Spectre' Stolen in Germany.
Looks like 007 is having car trouble. Customized Range Rovers due to be used in the new James Bond movie "Spectre" starring Daniel Craig were stolen from a parking lot in western Germany, according to the auto maker. The cars were filched, along with other high-end Land Rover models, in October before being shipped to the movie shoot in the Alps although the news only came to light this week. "The theft of the vehicles in Neuss is part of an ongoing police investigation and we therefore cannot provide any further detail," a spokesperson for Jaguar Land Rover Germany told NBC News. The cars were designed specially for the film and have thinner windshields than normal Range Rovers do. Officials at the Jaguar Land Rover headquarters Germany confirmed that the manufacturer will continue to be "vehicle partner" for the movie. The five vehicles were valued at about $1 million, according to German media reports.

I was 100% against DC when he started- mainly because the blond hair- I just refused to accept that as Bond (which is pretty f'n stupid) But he is absolutely my favorite Bond now. He brings a ton of energy to the role- would watch Bond movies with him for the next 20yrs if I could... I still love the RM Bonds for what they were- that's the Bond I grew up with- but as for something that is Bond + actually being a decent movie, that's the new era of DC Bond all the way.

Casino Royale is my favourite Bond movie....followed closely by Goldeneye. Both were directed by Martin Campbell too.
I have really enjoyed all Craig's outings as Bond and I will of course be giving this one a shot too. |

I do understand the complaints about the latest Bond films being too realistic, and cutting out the slickness of the old ones though. But I think the Brosnan films overdosed on that stuff, especially "Die Another Day". That film seemed to be written around all the little throwbacks to the old films. So a purge really was necessary for "Casino Royale". But I thought "Skyfall" did a decent job at bringing Q and a couple gadgets back. Hopefully "Spectre" will advance that a little bit. The great thing about Bond movies is that there's a style for everyone, and they change every ten years or so.
