I really liked this movie. I have to admit that I am not one that demands that all comics/cartoons that become movies must remain exactly the same. Not all change do I relish, but this one was great even for the changes and inconsistencies from the comics/cartoons.

Ok I think people that are fans of the "marvel movies" are going to LOVE this film..tried and true "Marvel-heads" like many of us who grew up with it are gonna think, "pretty bad-ass movie, but I dont know why they just didnt......" and of course I'm speaking about Deadpool. 100% and A+++ For Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson, why they didnt keep his storyline straight I have no idea.
I knew that the love intrest wouldnt be Mariko or have any of the Wolverine/Japan content so I can let that slide... I thought Liev Schrieber as Sabertooth was fanfriggingtastic..great great Sabertooth and when they were back to back it brought ME back to the days of Wolverine #40 through about 60 or so. The opening seqeunce was absolutley f'ing awesome. The entire military history was out of control awesome...and if you dispute that, your a tool. |

I went to the midnight showing as well and I must admit I really really liked the movie! I don't want to spoil anything for anyone that hasn't seen it, but just make sure you stay all the way to the end. Speaking of which, there are two different endings that they were promoting which was pretty cool. Me and my cousins were in one theater and got one ending some of their friends were in another theater and got the different ending
EDIT: Nevermind, I went out and read a few articles. It's just different bonus end credit scenes. The new one is way better than the first one I saw |

Overall bad movie. There was a lot of crap they could've left out to do a better origin movie. I will admit, the action scenes were pretty cool, and I enjoyed Gambit, the Blob, and Deadpool's initial scenes. If they do a Deadpool spinoff, he better not have all those retarded powers.

I saw it this afternoon. I had to quiz a comic book friend of mine about it. I didn't know anything about Wolverine's origin as defined in the regular Marvel continuity so he explained the differences.
I liked the action scenes. I think it's consistent with the other films. I still like X3 even though everybody else hates it. No bad acting except for Will I Am, but I wasn't expecting Meryl Streep here. I thought the script was satisfactory. Not good, but satisfactory. I was really hoping Mr. Sinister would be in it somehow since it featured some of Cyclops' origin as well, but no luck. I wish I hadn't known going into it that the same writer who wrote "Troy" wrote this. I think I might willingly commit suicide before watching "Troy" again. I probably judged it more harshly because of that. I didn't appreciate some of the plot holes, like if everybody knew about Gambit why hadn't Stryker had him hunted down and killed already? And I guess Sabertooth loses his own memory somewhere in between this story and X1, or else that's a different character. Hmmm... I thought the editing was rather choppy in certain parts. The film really didn't flow very well. Like how Wolverine knocks Gambit out but then later he swings in from far away. Huh? And something about the fight between Wolverine and Sabertooth in the island lab. Sabertooth just seems to come out of nowhere. And obviously Stryker did not bother to post sentries or anything 'cause Wolverine just walks right in. La-di-da. Then suddenly the dead chick is back. That was almost soap operatic in its cheese factor. Look! Your love isn't dead! And she was working for me all the time! And she did it to save her sister and of course she's really in love with you! I half expected an Asian chick to suddenly appear and be "I am Mariko and I am in love with you, too!" and then fight the other chick just so there'd be a chick fight. Anyone else notice the homage to Darth Maul's entrance in Episode I? I'm choosing to interpret that as an homage and not an uninspired reheating of old ideas. See how positive my mental attitude can be? |
