I can't wait for these two movies. Easily the two that I'm looking forward to the most next year. They seem like they fit together pretty well too. Kind of surprising given the two directors different styles. I love how most of the stuff in Suicide Squad just looks so practical. I do hate all those cell phone shots that we have to put up with these days. They don't really spoil the movie, but they can give a bad first impression. I remember seeing a ton of stuff like that when Captain America 2 and The Avengers were shooting in Cleveland. I hope it doesn't make directors want to shoot stuff on studio lots or soundstages and fill it in with cgi instead.
Great gif showing Bruce Wayne's perspective of the events in Man of Steel: Last edited by Ford; 07-14-2015 at 03:28 PM.. |

I enjoyed that part too Ford.....really like that Wayne was present in Metropolis when it was going down.
Adds greatly to the dynamic & his purpose IMO. |

‘Batman’ Solo Movie: Ben Affleck Directing, Geoff Johns Co-Writing
[i]There are high hopes for Warner Bros.’ Hall H panel on Saturday morning of San Diego Comic Con 2015. Teased simply as a “sneak peek at a few upcoming releases“, what everyone is really hoping to see is footage from their most anticipated release – Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Already, the film has a had strong presence at Comic Con this year and was prominently promoted ahead of the convention with a slew of new images. Yet, what we’re most anxious for Warner Bros. to reveal while in Hall H is a detailed and longterm plan for their DC cinematic universe beyond Batman v Superman – something more than the releases dates for the films we do know about. In fact it’s something we believe WB needs to do in they want to “win” Comic-Con. And this isn’t to suggest WB doesn’t have just such a plan, but they haven’t been as forthcoming as, say, Marvel Studios. However, we now know another piece of the puzzle thanks to this scoop from Deadline: Ben Affleck is set to co-write a standalone Batman film with DC Comic’s Chief Creative Officer and powerhouse writer Geoff Johns. Affleck is also lined up to direct this new Batman film, but the project won’t really kick off until after Affleck finishes with his scripted adaptation of the Dennis Lehane novel Live By Night (which starts production in Fall 2015). We’ve been hearing rumors that WB was planning to give Affleck the reins of their next Batman film for some time, and isn’t all too surprising given his many celebrated director credits of late (Gone Baby Gone, Oscar-winning Argo, etc.). But to learn that Affleck will co-write along with a celebrated comic book writer like Johns – that is a bit of a shock. There’s no denying that Johns has played a crucial role in the DC Comics’ universe, having written such titles as Batman, Superman, Justice League, Aquaman and more. Even more importantly, Johns was the writer responsible for the recent reboots of both Green Lantern and The Flash that have served as the basis for both character’s recent live-action adaptations. Co-writing Batman with Affleck will be John’s first film writing credit, but he has written episodes for Arrow, The Flash, Smallville, and the upcoming Supergirl. As for what Johns will bring to Batman, his most significant contribution to the character was the graphic novel, Batman: Earth One, which was Johns’ take on the character’s origin. It makes Johns an interesting choice as many are expecting this film to feature the older, more experienced Batfleck of BvS, but then again, Johns’ involvement doesn’t necessarily mean it must be an origin for the Dark Knight. Deadline‘s source goes on to say that Affeck and Johns have really “found their rhythm” while working together, which isn’t too surprising given the two are both huge Batman fans. And while there’s no mention of when this solo Batman film would release (perhaps we’ll learn in Hall H Saturday morning?), it’s suggested Affleck and Johns will have the script finished by summer’s end. Are you surprised to learn Ben Affleck and Geoff Johns may be writing Warner Bros’ Batman film? What type of story will you expect it to explore? Let us hear what you’re thinking in the comments below! Update: Batman V Superman stars Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill will reportedly make an appearance on the Comic-Con show floor to sign autographs for fans!

There seems to be strong rumors that the Man Of Steel II has been put on indefinite hold & that problems persist on the WW movie process.
Thoughts or insights on this? |

Then again, I haven't heard either of these rumors, though I know WW had gone through a couple directors already. Heck, had Man of Steel 2 even been officially announced as opposed to heavily rumored? Still, WB's probably at least a little nervous. The buzz on BvS has not all been good. With Fantastic Four bombing it starts to look like the "Superhero Bubble" might have burst for non Marvel Studios efforts (though certainly it's too premature to make that call). Man of Steel did good but not great, and attracted a lot of negative buzz after-the-fact. Henry Cavill just toplined a bomb (The Man from UNCLE), and even though that's really not his fault it hurts his "leading man" cred (not that it wasn't already clear WB doesn't have much faith in him as someone that puts butts in seats...the marketing has almost all been about Batman). I wouldn't be surprised if WB is retooling the whole DCCU to be Batfleck and friends (I use the nickname affectionately, as I think he's going to be fine in the role). Then again, with his divorce and the alleged cheating Affleck's a media darling for all the wrong reasons right now, too, which is likely another thing that makes WB nervous. Add to that the basically untried and not terribly well-received Gal Gadot and the weirdo and so far not intimidating at all Lex Luthor and...yeah. I can totally understand WB being hesitant. I suspect BvS will be big. It's certainly not going to bomb. But WB wants this to be as huge as Avengers or The Dark Knight series...not just "a decent return" like Man of Steel. From what I hear, there is a faction within DC and WB that aren't convinced Snyder's storyline/direction is the thing to base a DC movie universe off. Officially, BvS is the springboard, but they're really still trying to find the right formula for DC movies. To this, an important group of WB and DC execs simply point at the MCU and say, "There's your formula!" BvS is looked at as a test, of sorts, not only as a "Justice League Lite," but also as a test of this current "formula." They're not just looking at BvS's performance in a vacuum either, they're putting a lot of weight on how it performs, monetarily, against Cap: Civil War. Word is, BvS has to either match or beat Civil War's numbers. If it doesn't, they just might decide to take future DC films in another direction and call Snyder's efforts a standalone storyline. That doesn't necessarily mean Cavill wouldn't be back as Supes, just that they'll do a bit of a reboot to the entire "universe." Last edited by SmokeBellew; 08-28-2015 at 10:21 AM.. |

I'm not too worried about the rumors. I think the fact that they even mentioned George Miller as a possible director for Man of Steel 2 was good news. But I still sort of see BvS as Man of Steel 2 myself, since it follows it directly and features the same cast.
DC just gets none of the credit that Marvel does. Not that Marvel hasn't earned it, but the DC movies seem to be thought of as bad until proven good. There's a more cynical view of them. I think they lucked out though by scheduling BvS for March of next year, since there's no more superhero films coming out until then, we might be starved for one. They'll get to set the bar for the box office next year. WW is on their second director now, but at least they got some good publicity for hiring a female director at least. And it was a good move to sign Chris Pine for it. He hasn't become the A lister he was supposed to be, but he's still good in the movies that he's in. |

Good points lads......I do agree that DC/WB are being a bit hesitant and waiting to see how BvsS does at the box office. I personally think it will be massive.....although I do find myself being more excited about Suicide Squad in terms of the DC stuff.
I agree about Affleck/Batman too Jmac- I feel he will be mega in the role. |
