I can't even talk about the lengends match. As a guy who has worked on carding a legends match (with Superfly no less) what a let down. I still had a blast watching it (thanks booze!) but this was a milestone, treat it as such.

I would say HBK/Taker stole the show. MITB was a decent match, but I was surprised to see Punk win again and I was hoping the winner would finally cash in on the same night. I was disappointed the tag team match was a dark match and that the Colons won. There have been rumors of splitting Miz and Morrison so I guess that could be why. Maybe they get split up at the draft next Monday. Orton/HHH match was garbage...seemed short and no Legacy/McMahons was rather unlikely. I bet they have a rematch at Backlash because I thought for sure Orton would win with the big push they were giving him. oh, and Edge: king of the short title runs lol

Well the Tag match before the PPV was actually a pretty good one and built as it went on...the crowd was into it. We had front row seats in our section on he first riser section and we had great view of all the action.....once I find the cord for my camera I will load some pictures on here.
MITB----The crowd was very into Christian and the section I was sitting in was going absolutely nuts when he looked like he was going to win it. I knew he wasn't since Vince doesn't really care for him, but he was getting the biggest pop in that match. I also question why Punk again....I guess they need the first person to actually lose when cashing it in and I think Punk pulled the short straw. Kid Rock was cool but I think he may have sung one song to many...pretty much why the Diva battle royal started during the match introduction. Divas match was just a filler for the most part but freaking Santino cracks me up. Legends match---Superfly needs to stay retired, Piper well Piper did what he could do, but the Dragon, man for his age he can still go. Crowd was behind him. Flair got a huge pop from the crowd they could have skipped the whole Rourke thing....took way too long and just looked sloppy. Jeff vs Matt----was expecting a lot more from this but actually surprised with Matt picking up the win as well as how quick it was. Rey vs JBL---waste of time....all 21 seconds of it. Undertaker vs HBK---match of the night without a doubt. Crowd was hot for the entire match. HBK lived up to Mr. Wrestlemania and the Streak continues.....this should have been the main event because quite frankly the crowd was drained for the last two matches. Cena vs Edge vs Orton--- Most of the Crowd was anti-Cena the guys next to us had "we hate Cena" t-shirts on that they had made....it was pretty funny. Like him or not Cena is one strong dude. Other then the entrances and a couple of spots during the match....the crowd was dead. Hall of Fame-- the place exploded for Austin and used up what energy it had left cheering for Austin....I bet HHH was pissed last night, LOL. Orton vs. HHH---I truly believe that some of the earlier stuff ran long. When the ref bit it I was ready for the McMahon's and Legacy to do run-ins but it never happen. As the ref counted three half the section I was sitting in was already headed to the exits. I'll be really interested in the crowd noise when the DVD comes out especially during the Cena vs Edge vs Big Show and the Orton vs HHH match because it was dead as a door nail after HBK vs Undertaker. All in all I had a great time for my second Wrestlemania and whenever they come back to Houston I'll go to my third. Last edited by MSU44; 04-06-2009 at 06:29 PM.. |

great report. I'll be at Backlash for my first PPV (only my 2nd live event overall). I bet there will be a HHH/Orton rematch there.

I marked out for Finlay wearing his old Belfast Brawler outfit. Kofi had a break out night in the match and over all I loved it. I was quite suprised Punk won it again, I thought it was going to be Christian or MVP. I also wish someone other then Mark Henry was in it, he's useless. Quote:

And I agree with you on the Rourke thing, he took way to long to get in the ring and it was a bit of a waste. Quote:

Yep Flint...I was a huge Snuka fan growing up.....I was actually nervous for him more than anyone last night..... I honestly thought he would get hurt. I was surprised they had Jericho take out Flair like he did...should be some more back and forth and perhaps a ringside confrontation with Rourke.
I also loved Piper growing up (once he went face) hated him around the Wrestlemania I-III era.....perfect heel though. I knew he was limited but Hot Rod is still the man. Steamboat---was and still a huge Dragon fan and boy are you right if Steamboat was about 5 years younger what a match that would be. The Hardy match had some really nice spots but I just figured they were going to end the storyline here with the extreme match and have Jeff come out on top. I also thought they would get a bit more time, but I guess they are saving it or time constraints prevailed last night. I guess they will go to the next PPV to settle it. Although I thought the twist of fate on the chair was sick!!! As for the Cena match...I like Cena, don't love him, but I like him he's entertaining. Don't understand the constant hate....I know people say he only knows like 4 moves but guess what so does Hogan and we're almost all Hulkamaniacs!!!! Cena blew me away when he had both Show and Edge on his shoulders...I really think Edge bailed because he didn't want Show to land on him, LOL. It wouldn't shock me to have Orton win the title tonight on Raw. The match seemed, I don't know, lackluster, but like I said before Taker-HBK drained the crowd. BTW, Taker reeeaaallly needs to ditch his flying over the ring bit. The bump he took was scary sick. I do not know how he didn't break his neck. I saw the ref come bolting from backstage almost immediately to get down there make sure he was ok. Replays had some folks near me squirming looking at it on the jumbotrons. He's getting up there in age and tha needs to removed from the moves list. Last edited by MSU44; 04-06-2009 at 11:29 PM.. |
