Deadpool was part of Weapon K, the follow-up to the Weapon X program; in the comics. Omega Red was never part of the Weapon X or K programs.
Why they do this, in the new versions in different media? It's our fault. Yes, our fault. The fault of the fans. The fans want to see our favorite characters in all the different versions, so it forces the writers/creators to come up with ways to get 'em in there. I understand the "fault of the fans" syndrome. It's the same reason why they always have to rush Spidey in the black costume just so they can get Venom out there. For once, I'd like to see Spidey keep the black costume for awhile so it can slowly corrupt him instead of him having for a week or so then Eddie Brock comes along |

Here's a Deadpool to Larry Hama connection tidbit.
Back in Deadpools first ongoing series (he had had 2 limited series prior to this) that was done by Joe Kelly and Ed McGuiness (and was actually pretty good, this was before Deadpool got overexposed), Kelly used a group called Landau, Luckman and Lake and a character named Zoe Culladon to show Deadpool he had a bigger destiny. Landau, Luckman and Lake and Zoe all were creations of Larry Hama's and appeared in his Wolverine run. Now I don't know how much of what Kelly did with LL&L was what Hama intended since LL&L had a smaller part in Wolverine then they did in Deadpool. But there's a little Deadpool/Hama connection.

True, Omega Red was never part of Weapon X, but IIRC the Weapon X team fought Omega Red (I think this was shown in the 90's X-Men comic)

They clamor and clamor for things to get made but get all upset when it's not exactly what they want. If you want Deadpool to appear in the Wolverine movie, you have to understand/realize that he's going to have to be changed to fit the movie mythos which is not the comic book mythos.

wasn't omega red part of the Russian "weapon x program." He was made on the cheap to compete with the government mutants, but instead of adamantium he used something like carbonadium, which was flexible, but not as strnog as admantium? I think that was it. It's been so long though.

A friend of mine just handed me a copy at work. I will watch it but not really a huge fan of the x men movies. I liked the first one but not a hysterical fan of it. Something to do since my wife is feeling under the weather.
As far as the comics I was an avid fan since 5 ( I learned to read by reading uncanny back in 1980). Of course Wolverine was my favorite but I don't think it translate well to big screen. |

I wouldn't doubt it if it was released from the studio to drum up buzz before opening.

I remember Rocky Balboa had a really good version floating around right at opening.
I can see where word of mouth helped that. Alot of people were vocally questioning the need for another Rocky film, burying it sight unseen. I think it turned out to be really good, and told people who were fans that it was good. |

I don't see the studio getting the FBI involved if they "intentionally" leaked it.
