I AGREE! I think I was the only one in the theatre who got that. When that scene started I burst out laughing and everyone just looked at me weird.

Boy I tell you... I don't usually comment on people but that guy's rant on a movie being violent yet collecting toys based on war (which is violent) is out of touch with the duality of his comment. I like the movie. The comedian was over the top but he was that way in the graphic novel so you know that going in. Might just be a flame war starter. You know shoot and scoot...

Do they still make Bugle Boy jeans... in any size? Granted, this took place in 85, so I guess that is pretty relevant!
Awesome! I already spoke with a friend of mine who gave it a "C". He's far too critical of everything though... if there is a slight deviation from source material he officially hates it. So, I take his review with a grain of salt. |

--- As for B.A.T's comments about the "porn" and "snuff" glorifying violence I can only say that the film was rated R for a reason, it doesn't mean Rated "R" for Ruffles have RRRRidges!. If you felt the rape scene was too violent, my question to you is has there ever been a "fun for the whole family" rape scene? it's a horrible act that cannot be portrayed any other way, and believe it or not in the graphic novel that part was actually worse than what they showed in the film (not by a great deal but some details/dialog were left out). If you were expecting a "rollicking cape and cowl romp" then that's on you. If you don't know anything about the source material don't stomp on your soap box, foaming at the mouth, howling that we're all going to hell because you didn't do your homework. This was the best adaptation I have ever seen, I loved this movie. I only wish I could see it through the eyes of someone who has not read the book. I dont believe most of the audience I went with got it though. Everyone left with blank stares and that look of confusion, so in my book that made the movie even better.

Even though I knew that going into the movie, I still didn't really like it. Felt too jarring.

Never took the time to become a fan of the source material. Just seemed a little too pretentious to me. Give me Darwin Cook's New Frontier instead.

I really liked it. I went with my wife and a friend and they said "they might of enjoyed it more if they new more of a history of the characters" I told that that was all there is the comic was only 12 issues and it told the complete story.

Just got back from the movie and thought it was really good. It was so faithful to the source material that at times I almost felt like I was watching a movie I had already seen. A good deal of the dialogue is taken word for word from the graphic novel.
The only thing I really didn't like was the actress who played Silk Spectre II. Am I the only one who thought that her acting at times was just awful? Food for thought: Is Dr. Manhattan's blue dong unaffected by environment? No shrinkage in the cold Martian atmosphere? Last edited by Beach Head curses; 03-07-2009 at 11:09 PM.. |

watched it, really liked it, but(and i am someone who loves a story) i thought it needed more action in the first hour. the music did neither help, nor hurt it in my opinion.
