While I'm a big fan of Moore's work, the man isn't quite all there. You figure that's what it takes to write the kind of stories he does though. He's got good reason to be bitter towards Hollywood so I can't blame him (especially after what they did with LXG), but if you read up on the development history of the Watchmen film you'll scratch your head at who he gave his thumb's up to to write the screenplay years back especially considering how much different it was from the graphic novel.
Either way, it's his baby and it was one of the great turning points in comic book history so naturally you would expect him to be very protective about his work being handled by other people. It's a shame he declined to be credited, at least Dave Gibbons helped out a bit. He did a crap episode of The Simpsons though, what gives? hah. |

actually, it is a large part of the dr. manhatten character, you see he doesnt wear clothes most of the time to show that he is disconnected from society, not to mention he changes in size so its not like they make 4 story bugle boy jeans!
the music drives the film hard sometimes other times it removes you, but i think that is more to the point, at some points in the movie it is very subtle, like the scene where ozymandias is talking to the heads of the car companies, in the back ground if you listen they are playing tears for fears 'everybody wants to rule the world< that is a real added 'touch". it is very true to the book, although a few of the "journal entries" were left out,(including my favorite) and the over all changes they did make really drove the movie, I think in a way some of them even made it a little better but I do not think it will be widely accepted by the public. I very much loved the movie, I've seen it twice already. |

Those two and 99 Luftballons. I thought they took some of the seriousness out of the movie, lightened the darkness. The movie was supposed to be dark, it's a very dark story. Didn't really like the choice of Dylan's "The Times They are A Changin" for the opening credits either. The songs during the closing credits were okay choices. Oh and Ride of the Valkyres during the Vietnam War sequence was just dumb.
I thought using Dylan's song was a good choice for the opening. I didn't think the Apocalypse Now homage wasn't that bad, you figure they were going to use a song that was played in a Nam movie regardless. Last edited by CallMeRotten; 03-09-2009 at 12:50 AM.. |

The music was a little "off" in certain parts though. I think they dropped the ball with "Hello Darkness my old friend" during the funeral scene and would have loved to see them use the Smashing Pumpkins song "the end is the beginning is the end" from the first movie trailer instead.
Also, Dylan's the 'Times they are a-changin' in the opening credits coupled with the slow-motion montage was absolute cinematic perfection. |

I just want to say that as an adult I think it's perfectly OK to throw snakes into the hearts of US soldiers because I saw it in a movie once when I was a kid.
