ok don't get me wrong, I love the new Batman movies and Smallville is one of my favorite shows right now but I think some heroes work better as a tv series than they do in a movie.
Batman- works better as a series because of his rogues gallery. You could have a different guest villain each week without the movie pressure of having to kill them off plus you don't need a lot of cgi or heavy FX, it works just fine on a smaller budget. Superman- lets face it, his day in and day out work just shouldn't be that exciting. If the big blue boy scout has a problem it is something BIG! It works better as a movie. Green Lantern Corps- they have 4 Earth GL's right now and that is perfect for TV. You don't have to focus on the same one each week so everybody could be happy. If it was a movie you couldn't fit all 4 in one hour and do it justice. which brings up.................. Justice League- has to be a movie! A team like that each week would be like fly swatting with a nuke! There has to be a big threat or it just wouldn't work. X-Men- Perfect example of too many big guns and not enough targets. Scott and Storm were so short changed in those movies.......... at least they have the good taste to call this next one Wolverine. I mean the other three were his solo films too......... the rest of the x men were just big named extras. This would work much better as a tv series. anything else to add? fell the same way or dissagree? lets talk about it. |

Batman with a different rogues each week would be bad. It works better as a movie, same reason as Superman. More chance to really focus on the interplay between the two. Breaking it down to an hour long would be the same basic story repeated over and over, unless you continue to another episode which basically makes mini-movies.
There's no reason to kill 'em off at the end, unless the story dictates it (Two-Face in the Dark Knight). They didn't kill the Joker off. Something like Green Lantern Corps would work as a tv show. It would basically be an ensemble cop show in space (would have to be the Corps in space, on earth would be too limiting).

Daredevil would work better then Batman as a tv show. He's more street level, his villians aren't as "big" as Batmans. The story would center around the duel between DD and Kingpin for control of Hells Kitchen.

i agree buddy...with every point...however, i really like the instant gratification of a weekly series...but on the other hand, i really like what a big buget of a movie can do for effects and such...take Smallville, i love the show, but some of the effects are downright cheesey (although i love that they didn't CGI Doomsday) and when a show that would really benefit from some good effects can't because of a restrictive budget, it really leaves you wanting more, that will never be delivered...

as much as i love the gl corps, I would hate to see it as a live action show.
It's too broad to be tied into televisions format. actually, outside of the Tick, I can't think of one live action comic show that I liked. Birds of Prey was kind of fun, but it just got too formulaic. The old superboy from the 80's was ok, in a sid and marty krofft goofy kind of way. And smallville...and i'm not knocking it, but i just don't get it. I've tried watching it, tried to like it, but it's just 90210 with superman. the JLA show was atrocious. it just seemed to be a bunch of teenage models running around with a hint of who they're supposed to be. i.e...give the black dude that silver vest. there. he's cyborg. somebody that's into the show, recommend me what episodes really bring out the best of the series and i'll try it again. Like i said, i want to like it.

X-men is the Perfect Example of a TV series that could flourish with a decent budget and Heroes just proves it. There's so much to learn about each character, and more than enough of them to keep it going for Season after Season. I agree Supes should stay on the Silver Screen, as his doings are Big Budget fare. Batman could hit TV but I think the smaller Budget might affect his Visual flair...I'd rather keep'em on the Silver Screen. I guess Multi-Character Heroe Teams are best left on the small screen, so that each character gets his own amount of character development in a well distrubuted manner. Single Characters have more of an impact when they have a nice Budget behind them so each time they come around, it's a big hoopla, that'll leave you clamoring for the next one. Okay that's My 2 cents.

ok don't get me wrong, I love the big flash of a big time summer block buster and Batman is the best example of how to do things right. I just feel like Batman would work as a tv series simply because this would show the true detective side of him. I don't think it will ever happen because the movies are making so much money. However Nightwing would work real well. You don't need a big budget to make these things work but you need to have good story.

Nightwing could definetly work as a TV Series, But as he's not as popular as Batman with the general public, they might look him over without even knowing about his history with the whole Robin thing. I fear he could end up like that Birds of Prey show. But I understand the whole CSI/Batman detective element you're getting at, and if handled right, could really succeed with the forensics thrown toghether with batman tech and heroe qualities.
