No Frank Miller did it during The Dark Knight Returns which I believe came out in 86-87....3-2 years before the movie.....and they had him in Black and grey during Year One which was out 3 years before the movie. Not to mention that the Character of Batman was in Black and grey in the beginning of his Career....As a matter of fact Batman has been in the Black and Grey for most of his career......Batman has pretty much wore Black and Grey all of his career......except the later half of the 60s until the early mid 80s......

the point is that in the 80's, nearly 50 years after his first appearance, Batman's appearance was drastically changed to all black body armor. now, the argument against Ripcord has always been that he was simply changed and he should be kept the same. Batman was brought up as an example of if he was changed it wouldn't be accepted either, but we have accepted the change. I think the difference is we were kids when he was changed, and we regard anything that occurred when we were kids okay, but if it is changed when we are adults it isn't. that's silly. either changing a character is okay, or it is not, regardless of when it occurs. and I think changing Batman after 50 years is far more significant than changing Ripcord after 25, so I don't understand how fans can be so opposed to one for teh same very reason they accept the other. I never read the Dark Knight returns, but googling it the images I see he is in blue and gray. so I don't know. and black and gray tights is still a big difference from all black body armor. the body armor itself changes the dynamics of who Batman is. it may make him more realistic, but it's a significant change nonetheless. so, either any change is bad, which is the argument against Ripcord, or change is okay, therefore there should be no problem with Ripcord being changed, unless one is simply opposed to him being black, which I think brings up other societal issues.

Eddie Murphy is a horrible actor. He is okay for comedic roles because timing is more important than true acting chops. But for a serious Riddler, it can't be him. I can't help but wonder if Murphy's agent is the one leaking this info to get a little hype for his client.
Rachel Weiz is a little long in the tooth to be Catwoman. Although I like her, she is just too durn old. |

isn't there an old saying that goes a little something like "if you tell a lie enough times it becomes the truth"? Yeah, I don't think this lie can be told enough.

for the record, I don't think there is a single soul that isn't justified in disliking Marlon Wayans as Ripcord, or making him a comedic sidekick. that's a drastic change of the character. my argument is against anyone opposed to the character because he's black, as if the character couldn't be black and still have been used in a manner that more resembled his characteristics from the comic. there are plenty of black actors alive that could have played Ripcord even if he had been written identically to how he was used in the comic, so there is just no reason to get hung up on his skin color.
