I was disappointed when I saw it because my expectations were so high. Now I'm able to enjoy it a bit more even if it is the worst of what I consider a great series of films.

I also just rented the DVD this past week. After finally seeing this movie I don't know why people are so up in arms about it. It wasn't the greatest movie ever, but watching it was a decent way to spend a couple hours. Seems to me that people are swayed by popular opinion way too much. I didn't feel like they raped Indy. |

Then I must question anything you may say in the future about movies, lol :-)
I didn't read anything about the movie because I wanted to go in with zero expectations, and walked out with a less than zero (negative) reaction to that abomination of a film. I'd rather watch Ang Lee's Hulk, USA Network's The Starter Wife, or your dad shoot a round of golf. |

The far fetchedness in the OG movies wasnt hoakie ass gayness like in the new one. Common, he survives a nuclear explosion by sitting in a fridge? Swinging with monkeys? CGI aliens and space craft flying around? Sword fights standing on 2 cars?
This movie just killed the spirit of the OG films, just like with the new star wars flicks. Were they fun? sure why not, cant go wrong with fights and explosions. It just didnt have the feel of the originals See Aliens in this made up for the lack of Nazis for me and I'll tell you why, in the 30s there was a lot of interest in supernatural archeology stories thanks to the finding of King Tut's grave in the late 20s, there were lots of stories like that and that's what Jones was a homage to... when you move it up to the 50s/60s, scifi was becoming more prominent so that's what the homage is too.

It was a piece of crap from beginning to the end. I don't wanna go to the movie theater anymore after this one. I still want my money back.
Computer generated monkey's team up with Shia, as he's swinging like Tarzan through the forest, to beat up Russian soldiers. Animals are usually scared shitless of humans & would run the other way. I guess that tiny fact escaped Lucas & Spielberg. Neither one of them has made a good movie in years. Star Wars I,II & III weren't totally horrible but they could have been a lot better. |

I liked it alright. There were very cheesy parts and it didn't quite have the magic the other 3 had, but it was still good.
As for the aliens....well it is about a crystal skull and aliens are tied to the crystal skull mythos as much as the Mayans, so I have no problem with aliens in it. In fact I would have been pissed had they not had anything about aliens in it |

I saw it when it first came out and hated it. I rented it a few weeks ago because my wife wanted to see it and while it wasn't as bad as I originally thought, it is still an awful movie with almost zero redeeming qualities. my wife was simply amazed at how bad it was.

I'm also proud to say I liked it. It wasn't the greatest movie of all time, but it was a decent, fun Indy movie.
Some of you guys are totally over-analyzing this film. You really gotta lighten up. For this movie, you just have to relax, let go, and allow yourself to enjoy it. All this "Oh, like THAT would ever happen" stuff just ruins what could be an enjoyable movie watching experience. Not the best movie, and certainly not the best Indy movie, but no where near as bad as the cynics make it out to be.
