I don't appreciate people calling Sean Hannity an asshole, and then salaciously defending Colbert. That shit pushes me over a cliff. I will gladly cease fire now. |

I think a political conversation would be a healthy outlet to get somethings off everyones chest from the past three days, to bad it always turns into people getting heated and making empty threats at each other, . . . and its not allowed either, it ends up going no where. Well, there are blogs all over the internet for those sorts of things.

Incidentally, a Battle Royall would be pretty damn funny. I promise to not only keep things civil, but I will also keep half my brain tied behind my back if the moderators allow the actual debate. Last edited by Bravestarr; 11-06-2008 at 03:36 AM.. |

All I'm saying is inviting people onto your show and cutting them off and being straight rude to them makes you a dick in my book. Since when does being a political pundit make anyone a great anything? Never said he's lied or called him an idiot, in fact he's well educated. I'm sure I can find incidents of him being a shitty "host", but it makes for frustratingly entertaining tv.
There are lot of analysts and experts on all sides of the political, current events, and even sports spectrum that I dislike. We were talking about Colbert's character and who he mocks in his political satire, and Hannity is one of the first that came to mind. Had it been about a satire on a liberal, I woulda used Olberman as I consider him to be an asshole. If it was sports, I woulda said Jay Mariotti or Skip Bayless. Would you consider them great Americans or even care if I called them assholes. Part of what makes America great is being able to freely voice your opinion without persecution, except for being told by strangers on the internet that they'd kick your ass on a comment about a stranger neither party knows. I've got my e-armor on, e-ass-kick away, my fellow tankers. |

He seems to be good friends with the editor in chief, especially considering when Captain America died they sent a replica of Cap's shield to him so it's not surprising to hear he might get a cameo.
I think it'd be awesome to see Stephen Colbert in it as a cameo if it turns out to be true and he gets into the film. I love watching the show and the character he plays in it.

All right, I've been thinking. When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade. Make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don't want your damn lemons! What am I supposed to do with these?! Demand to see life's manager! Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons! Do you know who I am? I'm the man who's gonna burn your house down! With the lemons! I'm gonna get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down! |

In case anyone may have caught their respective shows, Stewart had a Right Winger from Fox news on tonight and Steven Colbert had a left wing supporter on his, it intended to show solidarity of the two intentionally opposing shows. In real life John Stewart has some conservative views and Colbert is not nearly as far to the right as he would have you believe. I have met Stephen in real life when he was in Strangers with Candy, (I was working on the show as a P.A.) he's not anything like the character he portrays on T.V., he came across as a very sincere and intelligent man. I've unfortunately never met John Stewart though, ...someday.

Alright, knock it off. This is why we don't allow political discussion on here. Take a perfectly interesting topic about a MOVIE and it becomes a battleground.
So, if you have nothing to say about Colbert in either the Captain America Movie or one of the Iron Man sequels, do not post anything.

I would actually attribute this to the change in times. Our grandparents grew up in an era of intollerenace, racsisim, and closed mindedness and we grew up in non-segregated schools, have less racial issues to deal with than they did, and while these issues still plauge our society it is no where near as bad as it was back then. My two cents anyway.

I wonder why you have felt the need to refer to Stewart (the name he is commonly referred to by) as Liebowitz in every post (3 times in the excerpted post above)? I'm sure that you're trying to make some sort of point by doing that, rather than using his much more familiar professional monicker, and rather than jump to a conclusion, I'd like to hear from you why.
