In case there are any Trek fans here (other than myself) EW.com (as in Entertainment Weekly) has a bunch of new pics from the upcoming JJ Abrams re-do (TOS is my favorite so I'm pretty excited to move out of the Next Gen timeline and back into the classic era)

Here's to hoping the new Star Trek crashes and burns -- hard. I am just sick to death of folks n Hollywood going out of their way to remake the classics in their own image. F that and F them. They need to come up with some new ideas and leave the damn classics alone.

dang. I love the re-makes. (mostly) I would love to see the new Trek kick of a whole new franchise.... The Thing (a re-make) is one of my favorite movies as is Magnificent Seven... I'm hoping that by the time I'm 60 (getting my theatre discount and all) Lucas' son will have gone and updated the StarWars flicks for a new generation. i guess it's all just entertainment to me. |

That "New" classic enterprise looks like crap, is unrealistic and dull in this day and age. I still think it a shame they ended Enterprise after only 4 seasons, the show had potential, but as usual they messed it up because they do not wanna go beyond the confines of earlier trek series. I did like how they redid Battlestar galactica, but that series had alot of room for reinvention, Star trek has not. Last edited by firefox; 10-20-2008 at 01:43 PM.. |

Ha! Harold from Harold and Kumar is playing Sulu and The Kid from Alpha Dog and that episode of Curb your Enthusiasm is playing Chekov.
I'm sorry but I just really don't like this idea. I think both of those guys are fine actors, especially Anton Yelchin. He's a pretty damned good actor. But, I see absolutely no reason the do this. Can anyone explain why this is being done, other than to milk the franchise for another 30 years of movies with a cast that will be around that long? |

just that TOS is my favorite. The ships, the uniforms. Romulans and Klingons are still bad guys. And all the original characters were awesome. Kirk and Spock are my favorites and there's no way I would ever want to see Shatner or Nimoy in tight-fitting gold/blue velure uniforms (outside my TOS DVDs) I'm excited about Kirk and Co. coming back (not the original actors, the original characters) And w/Abrams at the helm, I've got better hopes for this BSGesque remake than I've got for some other big name features coming down the pike. We've all learned to accept a diffrnt' Bond and Batman every few years, is getting a new Kirk to re-launch a great era of sci-fi so hard to open up to?

Yes. I am a huge Star Trek fan and guarantee I will not spend a dollar on this epic fail crap they've come up with. Asking me to accept this new garbage would be like asking me to accept a remake of the Dirty Harry movies with Toby McGuire cast as Callahan.

I'm sure Dirty Harry movies aren't too far behind. Guess some people will have to stick with their old VHS tapes if they wants things to stay the same. |
