G.i.joe The Series!!

So I was thinking that with the film coming out and with the success of shows like The Unit, NCIS, etc. I pose this question?

Why not a live action G.i.joe weekly series??? It is proven that you can make a lot more episodes of a t.v. show for less than a 2 hr. blockbuster, which is why George Lucas is doing the Star Wars series. I think there are so many characters and stories to tell and ideas to evolve with the joe mythos that it's really a no-brainer! I also see shows like battlestar galactica which is gritty, well shot, and engaging being well received by the masses.

Waddya think?

That would would be badass. I don't want it on network tv though. Cable like TNT or Spike or even better Showtime or HBO.

If the Star Wars series does well then that might be a feasible idea. But I don't think any TV execs would touch it before that. I'd like it to be on anything other than Showtime or HBO (I don't want to have to start getting those channels )

Well at the very least, if not a live-action, maybe a animated series, after the movie comes out. That's been a proven formula. After Superman, Batman, Spiderman, and Transfomer movies, they were followed by a animated series.

I've been saying for years that G.I. Joe works better as a live action television series than it ever could as a feature film. There's so much in the way of backstory and character development involved, and a two-hour movie - or even three of them - will never begin to explore it all.

With shows like The Unit on CBS (a series that has failed to live up to its potential on so many levels, but that's another conversation), I think it could work on a major network. It could be just violent enough to be realistic, but still tame enough for pushing products. HBO or Showtime would be the obvious choices for quality, but the networks get it right every now and then.

I couldn't agree more. Even a show like Battlestar Galactica is pretty well done and that's on the sci-fi channel which normally puts out total crap! If they made that property gritty and intriguing then they should have no problem with the Joe-verse. They could have the option of an ongoing story, multi part episodes, or stand alone episodes (just like the comics). A constant revolving door of directors, writers and actors is also very appealing to producers for some reason?

I think a live action series could do really well. In short stories about the soldiers and how they make up the true life of the bigger aspects of the world they live in.
