I liked "Superman Returns." I thought it was an excellent, subtle film.
For the record, though, didn't Superman make love to Lois Lane (in Superman 2) AFTER he had his powers taken away by the crystal chamber? Which opens up another argument: His seed should have been de-supered as well. But I digress. I know I am stating the obvious but studios make movies only to make money. The quality of a film is a very subjective thing. All that matters is that it makes money. "Superman Returns" was a financial disappointment, so they are going to try again, and if they get a hit, they can perhaps have a profitable franchise. "The Dark Knight" has shown there's still a lot of money to be made by the superhero film franchises. I'm easy to please, though. I'm an X-Man fan and I liked "X3". I am aware of its faults, but that didn't significantly diminish my enjoyment. |

I want a Superman film to make tons of money his character deserves to. I like S.M.R but felt Singer missed the boat on so many things.
Airplane save was done before although not as cool....Lex is just played out unless you go with the Business Tycoon...Take it all from you Lex.....but you need to give him someone to go toe to toe with........and you dont have to have Lex be the reason for said Super Foe. I say keep Brandon Routh he did a good job and with someone else directing could be a "Better" Superman. His Clark was spot on it was Singers "Jesus" Wanna be Supes that sucked. |

Suprman Returns was awful, but it's box office total was low because there just isn't much interest in the character, comparatively, to other comic properties. and just like Hulk, making a better movie won't change the BO totals. I am confident, regardless of how well this newer, darker Superman turns out, it won't fare much better than Returns. that's the problem with giving the audience a bad experience, they lose interest in the property.

i guess the execs thought it might be a good idea to do a dark themed version of supes. probably because they watch battlestar galactica. "Hey it might work!"
not unless they toss the movie into the Infinite Crisis theme. then it could work.
