My scooper has told me that Warner has officially given Nolan a "deal" to make Batman 3, and new reports from Variety confirms it. Whether Nolan will take it is another story completely, though, as last time, he did make another movie in between.
However, Nolan would be hard pressed not to take the deal, as Bale is already asking him to return, though the huge challenge of topping The Dark Knight might be daunting. I'm confident, however, that if anyone could do it, it's Chris-Fracking Nolan. Oh, and so you have a bit a proof that I'm not making things up (I always wait until I can prove my claims) IGN: Nolan Mulling Batman 3 |

Can't wait to see if any of the rumors of villains are true.

I don't see how this is news. With all the success, why wouldn't WB ask Nolan to come back? What am I saying? Trust Warner Bros. to invite Nolan to come back as Executive Producer so that they can have Joel Schoemaker make a more family friendly, toy selling version. History does love to repeat itself.

I think he has to come back to do the next one, particularly with the way he ended The Dark Knight.
I'm guessing he'll punch out after three, though. Its been a nice run so far. |

If i were Nolan I'd milk Warner Bros. for every penny i could and make them squirm before signing anything, why not.....it was his vision that made the movies what they are. TDK alone raked in $500 mil., as well as the #2 spot all time. I think he deserves a healthy reward, and he'll get it.
Whatever happens tho, a third movie will never reach the numbers of TDK. Much of TDK's success came from the Ledger situation as a lot of people saw the movie for that reason alone, being his last. The only way I see a third movie making anything even remotely close to the second is by casting someone like Johnny Depp. Depp's stock is as high as anyone in Hollywood right now and could defiantly see his quirkiness fitting perfectly into a villain in the Batman Universe. From a financial standpoint and that's what it's all about these days, Depp would probably be the biggest draw that they could come up with, as even the "Teeny Bopper Girls" who have no interest in Batman would see it. |

I say Chris Nolan hands off the series to his brother Jonathan, and they recast everyone ('Cept for Gary Oldman as Gordon) and continue in the same tone, feel and continuity as a weekly gritty crime drama TV series. Sorta like "Law and Order"... in a cape. That would be sweet

Because he was talking about turning it into a TV series. Bale, Freeman, and Caine wouldn't be up for TV. I honestly don't think Oldman would either though.
