I am a member of the Global Punisher Army, a forum dedicated to the greatest vigilante character in comic history. we have been eagerly anticipating this new movie, and when we heard it was being directed by Lexi Alexander, we knew it was in good hands. now it appears lions gate films has removed her for reasons unknown, and replaced with Gale Anne Hurd. we at the GPA need your help to get her back in the director's chair to bring us all the punisher movie we have been waiting for.
please follow this link and spread the word! PWZ Truth THANKS! Parabellum @ GPA

Hurd's greatest claim to fame was being married to James Cameron.

Hurd's IMDB resume...
Gale Anne Hurd The only decent movie is Incredible Hulk which Edward Norton and Louis Leterrier had to fight tooth and nail to get it the way they want. This is sickening. Lexi shoot a film stepped in Ennis essence and the footage from comic con showed the brutal vibe. Now we are getting a producer with zero talent to take over the film from here. It is like Lionsgate wants this movie to fail. I am with you Driftbot, I don't know how many more times they can ruin the Punisher with studio hacks at the helm before everyone just gives up... P.S. Anything she did with James Cameron doesn't count on her resume...We all know who steered those ships.

it looked gritty, and it looked terrible. her departure shouldn't be that disappointing.

The movie could still suck with Alexander at the helm but lets at least give the film a shot...

I heard the same negative talk about the Incredible Hulk, people were screaming mad until they saw the film. I am still iffy on the Punisher project but I think destroying the creative process and bringing in a new leader half way through seems to doom the project from any potential it had. Go watch Green Street Hooligans, it is a great film and viciously brutal.
The movie could still suck with Alexander at the helm but lets at least give the film a shot... sure, a movie can be brutal and good, but one movie accomplishing that doesn't man every other movie attempting to be brutal will do so. this movie looked terrible, and it was disappointing because the Punisher should be the easiest comic character to translate to a gritty live action movie. |

Well I, for one, thought that Hulk looked great based upon the trailers, and I liked the movie pretty well. I also thought that Hellboy, Dark Knight, and Iron Man looked really good based upon their trailers, and in my opinion, they were all good. However, I think Punisher looks like garbage. So, I'm expecting the Punisher movie to be garbage. Strangely enough, though, one movie that I was not drawn to based on the trailer but that ending up being freaking awesome was the Thomas Jane-starred "the Mist." |

About 85% of the time, I can usually predict whether I will like a movie much or not based on the trailer. I've seen a lot of trailers and a lot of corresponding movies, and can usually pick up the vibe of what a movie is going for and whether it is going to strike a chord with me or not by seeing such (there are obviously exceptions, such as when a trailer is created really early on in the process and is only a really simple "teaser," or when the creator(s) of a trailer intentionally fail to show us much).

I dont dig the colors and the terrible pumping music. Not my thing. However, that doesn't mean I think you should pull a director off a project. GunslingerCBR Analogy. A painter is painting a mural. Someone doesnt like where it is 3/4s the way through and pulls the artist and puts another one in there. Now the new artist has no idea where to go, what was unfinished etc etc. And the original artist could have pulled it together in the end. It is just counter productive to do this. They hired her, they let her shoot the film, let her finish the process.
