it isn't about being right or trying to change his mind, I am simply challenging him to defend his position, which I think has flaws in it.
what is a comic book movie? any movie based on a comic? perhaps. but what about Unbreakable, which is considered by many to be a comic book movie but isn't based on a comic at all? if it is a comic book movie, being based on a comic isn't the criteria that defines a comic book movie, which was his position. so what is the criteria for comic book movie? it would seem to be a movie that is meant to replicate a comic-like story (whether original or based on a comic), contain elements found in comics and which define the comic style, but in film form instead of comic form. so, where does that leave the Dark Knight? TDK seems pretty intent on not being a live-action comic, and it more closely resemble a crime-thriller but inhabited by comic characters. is this absolute? no. so, yes, to a certain extent, of course TDK is a comic movie, but where it excels is that it is more of a crime-thriller than a comic movie. perhaps my initial simply statement should have been more detailed to eliminate any confusion, but I didn't think it would be challenged or deemed so incomprehensible. but it was challenged so I defended it. |

Just so everyone knows, I did not mean to cause a fight……..LOL. I was making an observation that Gunslingercbr finally agreed was correct concerning the fact that this is a Comic book / superhero film. The comment I felt I made was about the film and the overall tone which to my knowledge is within the parameters of the post. And after reading Gunslingercb’s post he clearly says he was engaging in conversation and he certainly did not say he was being attacked?
But regardless Echo I did receive your PM and obviously after threatening me I have no choice but to a post carefully in the future. Since it would seem that you want a public apology and acknowledgement, I am simply responding out of respect to the Tank and making sure you know that I understand and will comply with your demands. One gripe would be is that I do believe that it should have been addressed to both of us, but again I don’t make the rules. The funny thing about all this is I agree with 90% of what Gunslingercb said……. ……..anyway If I am banned because of this then so be it. Either way I won’t post on this thread again. |

I have seen Dark Knight twice and I cannot take my eyes off of the Joker. And then you got Two-Face with that Eyeball that doesn't fall out of the socket when it looks like it could!! I am gonna take my wife to see it this week and then I am making an IMAX run sometime soon. Call me a FAN-atic or a freak... Comic Book character or not... That is a damn good movie. That's why it put Spidey-3 and Pirates to SHAME!!!!!!

Honestly, I'd rather skip seeing Robin and just have a cameo of Nightwing, Nightwing fits the mood better, and yes I realize that would be far later in the timeline and that they are the same person. Dick Grayson is far better as Nightwing than he was as Robin....just forget he ever wore the 80's disco suit.
Dark Knight was a damn good movie and I am glad I was intent to not read any spoilers weeks prior to the movie. |

How could Nolan's Robin possibly be cooler than Chris O'Donnell? That scene in Batman Forever cut the time it takes me to do laundry by 15 minutes.
