The Thing Prequel/Remake Trailer

And yes, I appreciate The Thing was a remake itself but I do wonder just how far Hollywood will go...

There's a slim chance it might be OK, but I'm not holding my breath...

I think Carpenters version said everything it had to say...granted I understand its left wide open as an ending and I understand there was story before, but honestly I think if any man was tackle either a prequel or a sequel of any kind it should be John Carpenter...and if he isn't up for a prequel or sequel than one shouldn't be made.

Dammit, it looks like a remake, the scene with the dogs and the flamethrowers and everything.

I was hoping for some originality, but it looks like a straight remake with CGI thrown in.

Is it time to show the prequals of Dr Detroit and Hell Comes to Frogtown yet?

The Carpenter version is probably my favorite horror film of all time. Ah well, at least this might mean we'll get a top-shelf blu-ray treatment of Carpenter's version for marketing synergy.

I'll probably check this out...so far it doesn't look horrible as prequel/remakes go.

JC's version is one of my favorite sci-fi horror movies and probably no. 3 favorite movie of his (Halloween and Escape from New York being no. 1 and 2). This one won't touch his but I'm still actually looking forward to seeing this one.

The problem I have is that I'll be comparing it all along.

Some remakes are fine - I like the Dawn of the Dead remake just fine but they had the sense to make it different enough. This just looks like a retread of the Carpenter movie.

Have you seen Prince of Darkness? It's a very underrated Carpenter flick that's often overlooked. The dream sequences are some of the creepiest things I've ever seen.

yup, very weird movie. i have a carpenter set. it also has the awesome movie w/ piper & black dude fighting for 10 minutes.

as for the thing, i hope it comes out good but really it just looks like a remake of a remake which is sad.

if you want a sequel which raps up the end of the movie, get the thing for the playstation 2. very cool story and gameplay. you are part of a rescue team which goes to the artic since the base has not had any contact in a long time. they even give you a cool handheld blood machine to test for the infected in disguise. you can team up w/ survivors and give them weapons but some of the them are the aliens in disguise. they also projectile vomit to infect you. you also find another a rogue company has set up a base and is looking for the alien as well. yeah the graphics are outdated but the story really drives the game. also an old friend shows up @ the end.
