Ok, so anytime a new movie gets mentioned, that could be considered related to cult favorite material, people start throwing up names for the leads in the movies, and honestly, some of the casting calls make me laugh.
This hasnt been said i dont think, but take this as an example. "Who I think should be in a GI Joe movie? George Clooney as Hawk, Brad Pitt as Duke, Vin Diesal as Destro, Wesley Snipes as Roadblock, President Bush as Cobra Commander" Okay, thats probably not gonna happen, when making movies, you have to realize that there is a budget, and hiring this many big names in one film tend not to work (i know there are exceptions, but for the most part, no). I think it would fun to create a game that people could create their dream cast of a cult fan related movie, but with rules. Maybe a casting pool, like certain actors would be considered A list, IE Tom Cruise, Tom Hanks, Brad Pitt. The kinda guys who get their own movies, the major stars. Then you would have your B list actors, guys who are very prominent names, but are known to have been in movies as side/shared main characters, or maybe havent had a hit movie in years. IE Matthew McConehey (sp?), Orlando Bloom, Johnny Depp, the actors more likely to be in an ensemble film. Then you would have your C list actors, guys who are known to most, but maybe don't get the attention the higher ups do. IE: Ron Pearlman, Don Cheadle, Edward James Almos. Guys who are cult faves, but you don't see on ET constantly. Then you would have the D list actors, voice over artist, CG specialist, IE Doug Jones who is famous for being a "Motion Actor", someone who gets roles by being able to contort his body movements in ways to bring life to the creatures he plays (Pan in Pans Lab., Abe in Hellboy), and Andy Serkis, famous for King Kong and Gollum. Basically, each rank would cost a certain ammount of money, say you give a movie a 50 million dollar budget. A list actors cost 10 million, B list cost 5 million, and C list cost 2 million. So lets say I want to star the movie with Doug Jones as creature number one, there goes 2 million. And I want Ron Pearlman as side character 1, there goes 5 Million, and so on. I know it would be a bitch to set up, but with any help, I would love to put something together like this, and set up a proper rule for it (stuff like using a A list actor as a voice for a CGI creature would reduce the cost of 10 million down to 7 million, as an example for other rules in my head). And obviously, the money counts would have to be adjusted, im just throwing this stuff off the top of my head. What'd ya think?
