Absolutely epic L.S. scene but it was a shame I had to sit through 90 min of crapola to get to it.
I liked the prequels enough, though I thought Phantom Menace had parts that were borderline unwatchable. I'll skip Clones for now and get to the one part of ROTS that still has me shaking my head. When Windu, Fisto and Koon go in to arrest Palpatine...it's f'ing retarded. I mean 1st of all they're all Jedi Knights. Episode II went out of it's way to showcase their sheer badassery on Genosis. We see Kit Fisto bang sh*t up with a smile on his face and I gotta think Mace Windu purposely picked those 2 at his side to get Palpatine out of power. So, with what we know about the strength of a Jedi, and the fact that there was 3 of them......how the hell did Palpatine get rid of both of them in an eye blink? Don't give me that crap about how powerful of a Sith he is either...there was 3 of them and they're Jedi's. He took them out in an eye blink and it just came off like "how fast can we write these 2 out of the script to get Windu and Palpatine alone?" It's my only problem with Episode III...he took care of 2 Jedi Knights like they were nothing. I understand he's powerful...but that was just stupid. (On a semi-related side-note, a old Star Wars Gamer magazine once did a "by the rules" breakdown of the Obi-Wan/Darth Maul fight from episode I. It was actually pretty interesting.) Quote:
My biggest gripe about EpIII was the use of the word younglings by Padme and Obi-Wan. I mean seriously? Younglings? It's fine when Yoda uses it but c'mon. How come the couldn't of said children. It would have sounded so much better. Could you imagine if Han or Vader used that word? "Great youngling, don't get cocky" or "He's just a youngling my master. Obi-Wan can no longer help him". The PT had some really horrendous dialog which was what annoys me the most about it. Don't get me wrong, I love the PT's but still...
Taken in context, I don't have any problems at all with the use of "younglings." Last edited by Jmacq1; 05-16-2011 at 07:59 AM.. |

Youngling? I just groan and roll my eyes. You can explain away its usage but it won't make it sound natural. Young one. That's a glaring problem of Lucas which no one close to him wants to take him to task for. Lucas can't write dialog. There is a great story here. But dialog that brings the film down to a c-rate movie. Calling it a b-movie would be too generous.

On May 8, 2010, at the 30th Anniversary Screening of Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back held at the Field Museum in Chicago, IL, Lucas was asked about the current status of the live action show. He stated that production of the show was currently on hold: "The live action TV show is kind of on hold because we have scripts, but we don't know how to do 'em. Because, they literally are Star Wars, only we're going to have to try to do them... a tenth the cost. And, it's a huge challenge... lot bigger than what we thought it was gonna be."

It's my only problem with Episode III
Watch these reviews; they're funny and totally accurate. They will explain my feelings on the prequels in a way that is much easier than writing it all out. There are reviews for all three prequels by Mr. Plinkett, but they're fairly longer and are not something you want to sit and watch all at once. Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace | |

Understandable, but I don't want to have to read the book for the movie to make better sense. Just write a better damn script!

The thing that always bothered me was the fight between Anakin and Obi Wan. In AOTC count Dooku whipped both their asses, at the beginning of ROTS Dooku takes out Obi Wan, then Anakin pretty easily defeats Dooku. Figured this scene pretty much established that Anakin was much more powerful than Obi wan!. forward to there battle and what did Obi Wan say " its over Anakin, I have the hight ground" ........Really! Is that all it takes? How hard would it have been to have Padme shoot him in the back in mid flight? and complete the betrayal?
I also felt short changed that we didn't see Vader (as Vader) whip some jedi ass! |

It's my only problem with Episode III...he took care of 2 Jedi Knights like they were nothing. I understand he's powerful...but that was just stupid. The real world reason was that Ian McDiarmid was never really taught to fight with a lightsaber. There's a whole scene in the making of Episode III where we see Lucas getting PO'd at his fight creator because the man had assumed McDiarmid would not be actually fighting. That they'd us a stunt double and CG his face on like they did with Christopher Lee. You can kind of tell in the film that Ian doesn't know what he's doing. In the movie, it's partly the absolute power that Sidious holds and partly the surprise. When Mace, Kit Fisto, and Agen Kolar (?) go to confront the Chancellor, they don't know what to expect. Anakin has told them he's the Sith Lord, but they never felt it and aren't so sure. He's always seemed a conniving, yet soft political type. When they challenge him, he palms a hidden lightsaber and jumps them in a blink of an eye. Killing one almost instantly and overwhelming the second before he knows what to do. I actually felt this was a pretty cool moment. The movies have shown that you CAN surprise a Jedi (especially a Sith who could hide his true nature right in front of them). Heck, even dumb battledroids can kill a Jedi if there are enough of them and they get lucky.
