I'm always open to ideas and suggestions for what to build, or how to mod a known vehicle (especially if I haven't built it yet).

Expanding on the concept of my last Heavy Class HISS IFV, here's a better armed one. It is the closest thing my Cobra forces are probably going to get to a proper MBT. It has a crew of four, lots of heavy weapons and still has space for two dismounts in the back.

My original HISS, (second from the right) spawned a simple APC variant (far right) where I removed the turret to make space for six dismounts inside. After that I built a heavily armed HISS Destroyer (far left), which carries its main weapons facing forward. Most recently, I've developed the larger Heavy Class HISS tanks, on a new hull. The one in the middle is the IFV variant, sharing the turret of the original HISS tank. The Heavy second from the left is the true "battle tank" version, with a brand new turret that mounts the same basic double cannon and missile weaponry as the HISS Destroyer. I've long wanted to build the Paralyzer and once I made the pretty easy decision to scrap the bright orange color, it made sense to me to give it a more tactical color scheme, to give the various environmental specialists a dedicated all-terrain ride, and to further distinguish it from the HISS tank family. I got the idea of making the weaponry modular from the Russian BMP-T system. My variant has elevating shields for each crew member to give them a little extra protection in front although they aren't as well protected as they might on a larger vehicle.
Initially my Paralyzer was going to be much larger, with full protection for two or three crew, but instead I opted for something smaller and closer in size to the original. Perhaps some day I will roll out a "Heavy Paralyzer" but that isn't my focus for the time being. There are at least half a dozen notable Cobra ground vehicles I haven't built yet, and I need to get back to the Joes as well of course. Here's my take on the G.I.Joe S.L.A.M. I decided that was too awkward of an acronym, so I renamed it the "Slammer" (to pair somewhat with the self-propelled Slugger). Aside from the name itself, I used fewer and larger wheels, removed the mini missiles, and changed the design for the extending stabilizing arms, but I think it is still recognizable.

I'm working on a bigger vehicle project, and in the meantime, I'll share a few small vehicles that I finished a little while ago.
Here is the G.I.Joe Artic Blast. I'm not sure of the practicality of those massive wheels, but it does at least have a unique look, and is an interesting follow up to the more famous (and perhaps more realistic) Polar Battle Bear. I'm not planning to build every last Joe vehicle ever, but I do have a mid-term goal to build all the arctic vehicles, so that I can do more outdoor dios in the winter. I've crewed this with Windchill of course, with Sub Zero and Blizzard hanging on the back! Arctic Blast by Magnus-L, on Flickr Arctic Blast by Magnus-L, on Flickr |
