Fellow tanker ranquet40 had recently shared a glimpse of his home's Lego GI Joe goodness in the Customs thread. There was only a small attached pic, so I thought it might be cool to showcase his work here on my Spotlight thread.
Here is the Flickr page so anyone who wants, can give him a follow ;) ranquet's Flickr |

It's my pleasure. I could check out pics of that awesome setup all day! =) I loved seeing some of the little "easter eggs" in some of the shots.
As my first example: When I saw shot the first time, I did not notice Mainframe sneaking up behind one of the crimson twins! (Nice jetpack btw!) There's some Joe rappelling (unsuccessfully) here, next to Tunnel Rat. I thought it was Roadblock because of the arms, but I think I'm seeing camo pants, though? *EDIT* Oh wait, that's Hawk isn't it!? *EDIT* And apparently this Alley Viper should have went to bed earlier last night! Great shots all around, and hope to see more soon. =) Last edited by stealthy slim; 12-02-2017 at 10:53 AM.. |

Back when I first got into the GI Joe building blocks world, I was finding some awe-inspiring recreations in my image searches. I was looking up Lego and GI Joe but I made the mistake of only viewing the pic(s) and not checking out the sites.
There are tons of awesome mocs over at Brickshelf, but 1816's recreation of the Cobra Night Raven was one of those that really stood out. Check it out: 1816's Night Raven on Brickshelf There are many more pics in there. There's a Terror Drome, Rattler, and other cool mocs to check out! 1816's Brickshelf Gallery I thought it would be an impossible task to even try to duplicate that design, so I never pursued it. Since I recently came back to the site, I dscovered something I had missed previously. There is another entry under Night Raven. This one was done by David Parkin where he did an excellent job copying 1816's work to digital! He even takes the time to share his pictorial build pics from MLcad (or one of those). Here's the page I copied all of those pics to my drive, and then collected them into a pdf. There's a link to a zip with a copy of the pdf at the end of the post, if anyone is interested. I do not normally redistribute another's work, but since it was made available to see for free on brickshelf, I see no harm. I transfered the pdf to my tablet, and then proceeded to go through the pics, while making the model in LDD. I could not get the missile tray to hide in there, but at least all the pieces are there ;) *EDIT I've zipped the parts list, lxf file, and pictorial build plans pdf all together to save link space 1816s Night Raven - Brickshelf.zip =) Last edited by stealthy slim; 12-02-2017 at 01:23 AM.. |

Here are our forces of Cobra Command! The dark blue tank is inspired by the tanks seen at the Spanish fort in Operation Lady Doomsday. The cannons on the Maggots elevate with a crank. The cannons on the FANGs are on ball joints.
Next up, the special counter-terrorist strike force, code name: G.I. Joe! Last edited by ranquet; 02-15-2016 at 08:26 AM.. |

Here's our MBT Mauler, Slugger, and APC. We've got a bunch more, but I wanted to wait and let the kids set up the rest. Besides, I can't take a picture of the Dragonfly without Airborne! (Can't find him at the moment.)
