I am so pleased with this set, the packaging alone makes me want one. I have been trying to figure out pieces for a custom Voltar lately, now I don't need to do that. Can't wait to see the new waves of figures, makes me think that we may see something soon in San Diego.

What a great looking set.
I wonder if they are going to go with this new packing design with the newer figures.

I'm stoked beyond belief at this set. Never would have imagined we'd get something so niche as SM, but I guess that's what exclusives are for, right?
I'm going to be offering trade value on my customs for at least one set, possibly a second for customizing/army building purposes. Details will be added to my signature after the list price is confirmed. The new tooling on headgear/hair for Slaughter, BBQ, & Spirit have me believing we'll get the regular versions of those characters in the promised waves of 6 & 7 (bagged or in sets). Also wondering if original gold-head IG Destro is due. The "pimp" version would have been on odd choice otherwise. Now if only someone was prepping some custom IG vehicles as we speak...

You bring up a good point here. What if the new waves are not in blind packs but are instead in these type of 12 packs? I think it would be easier for places like Entertainment Earth and BigBadToyStore to sell and pre-order sets rather than deal with blind bags. I would love to be able to just buy one of these packs and get the entire wave. Or choose to order 2 or more packs if I need multiples. They could also sell army building sets with multiples of the different troop types(fingers crossed). So excited to see what the future holds.

I agree, personally I would be more inclined to buy sets as opposed to blind packs, the idea of troop builder sets and themed team sets ie: Python Patrol, Sky Patrol excites me more than trying to hunt done and get lucky to find a Incinerator when I can pay a little more to but a 5 pack of cobras.

I doubt it; that would make too much sense. I know they like the blind bagged system because they feel they get more sales that way, which is unfair to the loyal customer. Kind of a slap in the face. I can't believe they wouldn't make as much or *more* by selling them in sets, as you've suggested, and then offering additional army-building sets. I know many around here, including myself, would possibly end ups spending MORE than we might normally by going nuts on army builders. But try telling Hasbro that.

Official Hasbro shots, looks great. I love that BBQ's helmet opens to reveal his head/face, since the original didn't. Also, the bird that comes with both Spirit and Voltar can very easily be redecoed into Polly, which leads me to believe a regular Shipwreck is on the way. Yay!
