I'm wondering how long should I want to leave the voting for this open? Thirty days seems like a good, long amount of time; but I wonder if that is too long a stretch?
I've made it open for 14 days =)

Well the results of the poll are in!
As you can see, mintrue is the clear winner of this competition with virtually all of the votes going to his awesome version! - chad_ghost has taken the second place spot with two votes. - And it looks like I am the only one that voted for my own :/ lol I am a bit surprised that I did not see any votes for Voice of Reason's entry. I also must not have made it clear that this was to be a multiple choice poll, where voters could list there most, to least favorite build. I apologize for not making that more clear; and hopefully the next contest I will do better at. And since this contest was setup by myself, I am finding it difficult to award myself the third place prize ;) Because of this, I will defer my position and bump Voice of Reason to third place! I will be contacting the winners personally to figure out shipping and specifics for the prizes Thanks everyone for your input, and hopefully this was a bit of fun for our members.

So I went ahead and got 2 of these to make my own Tomahawk:
Building Blocks Sluban Bricks Toy Military Army Aircraft Airplane Helicopter Set I'll try to make it exclusively with the contents of these sets. I have no idea about Sluban quality, though the reviews I read place them in average. Considering the price, I decided to give it a shot. They're supposed to arrive in early february, I'll keep you guys posted. Oh yeah, I posted on this thread because I find it odd how threads tend to disappear in this forum. Maybe they should all be sticky, we don't have that much of threads to overflow the place, and we're missing important stuff. Obviously minitrue's model is my inspiration (I got these sets because of the doors, I loved the door idea!), but I'll see what I can do.

I am very curious to hear/read a review on that set. I'm hesitant about buying any of the Sluban sets. This one looks very neat.

I had purchased a sluban military set, and since it is a knock-off of Oxford, I was hoping the military green colors would be a match for the Oxford/Kreo line. Unfortunately there is enough of a difference in the color to tell under decent lighting; so I haven't really gotten any more yet.
I'm still wondering if the actual Oxford military sets' color is a match for the Kreo, but those sets are still too astronomically priced to be contenders imo. I never picked up any of the desert colored sluban sets, so no idea about the tan/desert colors though, so please keep us posted ;)

Got it today, they're in my car. I can't play with them because I'm at work (so wanted to bring them to my desk), but everything came just fine. I've been busy these days, checking the threads but no time to engage in discussions, but I think I can at least give some feedback on the pieces quality tonight.

So I got these two choppers in order to make a Tomahawk. I had absolutely no tan parts on my lego bin, and I figured if I was able to make a decent one out of these two, I'd post instructions on how to do it so other people could buy two sets and make their own as well. Both sets were shipped with no box, but well packed overall. There were some loose pieces inside one of the big packs because a smaller one was ripped, so I'm assuming I'm not missing any parts despite my initial fear. How that happened I have no idea. The plastic feels cheap, but has a nice grip. Seems like early Megabloks, with that "dusty" feeling. Lego bricks fit fine with them. I expect no problems in that area. The minifigures are weird. The head attaches to this huge neck in a balljoint, and it goes straight through the torso right down to the hips. The hands are also in balljoints, which makes them flop down once you put an acessory on. Weapons are way too big. This is what a Tomahawk would look like unassembled, for $60. Not cheap. Unusable cute figures are unusable Kinda feels like I made a huge mistake right from the start, but it's nothing that can't be fixed later. Right now I'm gonna use only the parts available on these two sets, and hope for the best. Manual is straightfoward, and it comes with a nice set of stickers. These choppers seem to be pretty nice on their own. See you guys in a couple weeks!

I had two of the original Tomahawks when I was little. I have lots of great memories of those vehicles…
Here is my first try at a Lego scale version. I actually like this version much better than the original Hasbro version. It is much more "playable" and customizable. On thing that always bothered me about the original toy was the lack of side doors on the troop bay. Well, that's easily fixed with blocks! Side doors closed by Laurance Hiller, on Flickr If we open the doors we can see seating for a squad of 6 troops. Side doors open by Laurance Hiller, on Flickr This is the back of the helicopter. Folded blades for Carrier storage by Laurance Hiller, on Flickr The best improvement though is that the cargo space is configurable for different missions. Here are four basic options: med bay, seating, armadillo, devilfish. Any three of these can fit inside at once! All of the Cargo options by Laurance Hiller, on Flickr Here we are, ready to deploy!
