Here is my first try at a Lego scale version. I actually like this version much better than the original Hasbro version. It is much more "playable" and customizable.

I had two of the original Tomahawks when I was little. I have lots of great memories of those vehicles…

I have indeed started work on one, it's coming together nicely, if I may say so. Only problem is that I don't have certain bricks in an appropriate color, but will eventually. Like the above pictured one, I'm mixing in some grey here and there. I'm making sure to work in all the features; rear door, rotating rear fan, belly turret, and so on. I also have a "secret weapon" idea for the canopy that I'm going to keep under wraps until the reveal. This is fun.
I have been pretty fortunate in doing trades/sales with many members on this forum. Their fairness and generosity has helped me to inflate the ranks of my troops. So in spirit of all those members' generosity, I'm going to be throwing a Kreo Viper in the pot with the main prize! I've got a couple other ideas for non-first place contestants as well, so don't be afraid to show what you've got. It might just win you something cool ;)

A small update to my Tomahawk ldd model. I actually have a shorter version and a longer one. Here's a shot of the shorter one with the front canopy open.
I'm not sure if you guys can see it, but I added a trap door to the rear floor, trying to emulate that swing-down door with the hoist. I saw a Lego host mechanism that I'll probably try to incorporate (after I pick one up). Here's the longer one, now with the wider front wings, bigger helicopter rotor blades, some huge bombs for underneath, and of course my try at some camo ;) An overhead view Coming straight at ya And the rear view. Notice even though this build is getting pretty large, it is still only six studs wide ;) Thanks for checking it out, and let me know what you all think of things. Specifically how do you think the dark green for the camo looks?

I made an improvement on my Tomahawk. In my original build, I had left off the winch, because its placement on the bottom of the helicopter seemed oddly inaccessible to me. I've solved this problem by putting the winch on the top of the cargo bay with a boom arm that swings out over the side. Now stuff that is lifted by the winch can get pulled right into the cargo bay through the side door!

I'm just waiting on a brick link order to come in with the black side doors and then this will be done. Hey gang!
It looks like there may be a total of four (4) submissions for this build contest. Not as great of a turn-out as I'd hoped, but I do realize the summer months are a busy time for most all of us. With that in mind, I should be especially pleased that we have had contestant entries, and I certainly do appreciate the input from our 'tank community in all this! =D I would like to close the entry submissions at this point, but I will give one more day incase of any last minute submissions. (If you are still working on a build for entry, just contact me, and I'll try to work it in before the Poll is posted) Thanks to all for all of your input(s), and I'll be working on setting up the polls soon! =D

Yeah, I decided not too long after this began to go ahead and bail out. Not for lack of confidence; mine has come together nicely, but I figured it'd be best not to reveal my design until it goes on sale. Also, maybe it's not best to have a semi-professional ringer in this contest. Although I could sure use that Viper...
