I'm guessing some but not all of you have noticed there are Date Stamp codes on many of the toys you buy, both on the packaging, and sometimes even on the figures themselves. These can ID when the figure was manufactured, or when the package was sealed and shipped from the factory, or warehouse to the vendor.
These codes can help ID products that may have had a defect like a missing part, or faulty parts, etc. I've noticed that while not in stores anymore, I'm still seeing Series 1 and 2 playsets on TRU.com. I'm curious if anyone has ordered any recently, and if so are the date codes on these recent Kreo purchases from RECENT production, or just old stock that's still laying around. It doesn't 'prove' whether the line is still being actively produced or anything like that. But it can at least show how recently they WERE producing the line. If these sets remain available online and we see the date stamps continue to get more recent, then we know it's still going. If orders continue to provide dates that are always from some point in the past, and never newer, then we begin to think they're just clearing out what's left in the warehouse. I'll try to upload some examples of what i'm talking about later. But wanted to get this discussion started for now. |

I sincerely doubt there is ongoing production of these items. Pretty much everything they have is something that never sold out and never needed to be restocked. If they were still making these, we'd have seen a lot of restocks of items that sold out long ago. These days it doesn't seem like any action figure-related toy is produced in more than one run, except TMNT.

Leading up to the winter clearance they had just about everything. Since then, they've had as few as THREE total items for sale and as many as 13. Today it appears there are 7, but 2 are out of stock. So are these warehouse finds that make the items re-available? Or are they returns? Or have they been making more? Also note that the item dissappearing from the search in ToysRUs.com is NOT a permanent sign that it's gone. Items dissappear after a period of being out of stock, but come back ALL the time. |
