Agreed These are all fantastic looking! I've traditionally been opposed to the look of the fat, yellow minifigs of Lego...but I have to admit they are starting to grow on me! ;)

The Lego minifigs have their own fully little aesthetic. But they are designed from the very beginning for kitbashing, and there are literally decades worth of interchangeable heads and torsos to use that all are entirely compatible with one another. These days you can also buy a range of tactical gear for them from nonLego third parties.
Once you go brick, you don't go back ;) |

Thanks, guys!
I'm so close to 100 total Joe and Cobra figures. But I'm running out of characters I have any nostalgia for. Cobra's easy because once I run out of original characters I care about, I can get to 50 by filling in the rest with Troopers. But I need 3 more unique Joe characters to get them up to 50, and am not sure who to make... |

The photographer of my work is always saying that he wasn't much a fan of most of the vehicles from this period, but that in brick form, they can (or in some cases, DO) look great. I think this may apply toward minifigs too.

Geewunner, that's an interesting observation re the vehicles. What I like about building a Joeverse out of Lego is that I can go back and forth between modeling existing designs as close as possible to the originals and making my own versions/upgrades as I see fit. It's interesting to me how some of the early vehicle designs from 30 years ago still look modern or even futuristic (The Mauler for instance) and others look hopelessly old fashioned (the APC).

I am working on the APC - about 90% done and just waiting on a few Bricklink orders to finish it.
I'm keeping the basic shape, but replacing that useless soft back cover with hard armor and making it look a little more sleek and "21st Century" and less "Cold War". Would love to see your take on it too of course |
