I hope the QC improvement you mention is right. I'll be looking forward to grabbing some of these next time I'm out!

From the ones I've seen I think the divers look quite good. These can be easily used with the Sigma 6 2.5'' toy line. I used some of the Megablok heads on them because they are shorter then the Sigma ones but these are taller I bet they are almost of the same size and more articulated then the Sigma ones.

As someone who has extremely little if not flat out zero interest in building block sets as a new paying customer what is important to me is the quality of the micro action figure. If the figure is quality enough to pay for and the building blocks themselves are at least 75% as good as Lego with regard to quality then i'll buy the building block sets that come with figures AND the figure only packs. I'll be that new paying customer that otherwise wouldn't have previously given their building block product the time of day.
On the other hand no matter how quality Lego blocks are i lost interest in their dated mini figures at age 5 so i havent purchased any lego product. It was competing with GI Joe, MOTU, Transformers, RC cars, etc. . I dont hate Lego. I'm indifferent. They weren't even on my radar as a potential purchase. Ironically it's because of Mega Bloks new Call of Duty line that i'm actually open to buying a Lego brick only set lol. Something i would have done long ago if Lego had simply , well, offered more than just the building block experience. |

The biggest problem with Lego is that they've had a ''policy adjustment'' and the audience they target. Back in the 70s and 80s when I was a little un, Lego's ''City'' sets were about just that - buildings and roads. So your Lego collection - when assembled - was more akin to a model village or diorama than anything else.
Now, however, the City sets are themed around action-based professions (namely cops, fire fighters, sea rescue and, to a lesser degree, medical emergencies) so you find a lot of vehicles but very little in the way of buildings - unless you want to spend $70+ on a set. But the Lego Friends (i.e '"Girl Lego'') focuses almost entirely on buildings and locations over vehicles. My guess is that Lego has adopted an ethos of boys play with cars, girls play with dolls houses... Somebody tried to launch a new Cuusoo focusing on $20 ''mini stores'' for this exact purpose (which featured a McDonald's, a Starbucks, a Lego Store, an Apple Store, etc) but Lego said if it did go forward they'd only produce the Lego Store, which kind of misses the point completely.

I became interested in the Mega Bloks Halo stuff years ago. The only vehicle I've ever had issue with was the original Hornet. It was terrible and would fall apart really easily. Their sets (I have almost all of them) from 2011 onward have been amazing. The figures are awesome. And I find the builds to be getting better every year and are quite durable. I think they get bad buzz due to some of their earlier product. Actually, I'm inclined to say that their Halo line was the toyline of 2012.
With Mega Bloks continual improvement (I don't see that same effort from other toy companies) and this new CoD/modern military theme, I might end up having a new favorite toyline. |

I agree. Ironically - for a GI Joe collector - I'm not really a fan of ''war toys,'' I hate FPS games and the Mega Bloks toys have been a bit hit-and-miss with me in the past but I have to admit that the new Call of Duty figures look fantastic. I really like the scale and the fact that they're producing realistic vehicles and some pretty neat play sets.
I hope the QC improvement you mention is right. I'll be looking forward to grabbing some of these next time I'm out! I'm personally just happy that something outside of the norm is hitting the shelves that isn't tied to the usual brands and licenses. ...kind of like how i was excited to see Lanards newer (at the time) Corps! figures when they first came out. I can see why you'd say the HALO Mega Bloks line was the toy line of 2012. I really enjoyed big battles with my GI Joe ARAH figures as a kid. Looking back if i could have potentially built new vehicles or weapons for vehicles in the middle of those battles and /or built an actual base for Joe / Cobra out of bricks instead of using some piece of furniture i would have. That seems to be essentially what the HALO building blocks provide - an opportunity to build what you imagine on the fly to go along with your HALO mini figures. **** that's a win no matter how old you are. |

No it won't. They're priced at the same price as a gi joe figure ($10.00) since all the sets include vehicles. $10 per mini figure, and no blind packs like in their halo line. Have fun collecting them. (A blind packed minifigure would probably cost upwards of 5 dollars, close to the cost of a dollar store gi joe) *edit, Nvm, spoke too early, there are army builder packs on the megablocks website. Hope those are cheaper. This toy line looks great. Last edited by Snakeeyesisposh; 09-25-2013 at 06:30 PM.. |
