Dusty standing on the front doesn't seem safe.
LJ has enough and starts killing Bezpo. Why is Rock'n Roll posing as a camera man? Reporter dude even "Something's going down, Roll! Tape on this!" Buried gold. Ummm...okay. Hey, Lifeline and Stretcher...remember them? One Big Ben does a superhero jump onto Battle Wagon. Page 13 super gaping mouth panels! Firefly took over a passenger plane. FLYJACKED! He can fly one, too. That is JUST ANOTHER AMAZING NINJA POWER. I forget how much use Techno-Vipers got well after their figures left stores. Firefly mentions Hi-Tech, but he won't be part of GI JOE until 2004. CC uses a polygraph on Firefly. What? No brainwave scanner? There's a perfectly driveable road up to the escape hole in the volcano. The Faceless Master lets himself be manhandled by Roadpig...it's all part of the plan. And they toss him, an explosives expert, inside with a bandolier of grenades. CC tells Zarana and Cesspool "we are leaving", but neither of them go on the trip. So much for Zarana packing her trench knife. Brainwashed Storm Shadow talks to himself for exposition purposes... Torpedo dossier marks his first appearance since...I don't know when. Letters: Jamie Butler wants a solo Snake Eyes comic but also complains of too many red ninjas. Ninja discrimination! Josh Edge gets edgy and wants the Joes to fix Northern Ireland and end Apartheid. Of course the country names will be changed to West Myreland and East Abrika or something. It's an okay issue. CC and Firefly's reunion tells us nothing really, no Commander explaining why he condemned Firefly with the rest. No acknowledgement of any of Firefly issue long monologue origin story. It's not surprising, though. FIrefly sans CC buried him the freighter for grins on a slow day, not really how that happened. Whatever. |

This is another milestone issue for me. It's the first one I got from the store after my subscription ended!
![]() Anyway, I struggled through a couple of weeks of seeing this issue in the stores and not in my hands before I gave up and bought it. I replaced my subscription with Spider-Man, because I had discovered the MU during those 6 months. Joe was still #1 for me, so why I didn't I sub that one again? Guess I was afraid they'd cut me off again. ![]() Issue itself is a goodish one. Not as good as last issue, of course, since this is part 2. Last issue Hawk was dead as a doornail, but now he starts perking up like he's a Nintendo character who found a burger. ![]() This issue is back when Hama still remembered there's a Joe named Stretcher. Hawk doesn't really need a medic, though, dude was fine. Borovia story has a more open ending than the transcarpfishia story did, but this time there's no follow-up. I was waiting for Jaye to teleport to safety and the others to continue a couple issues later. There's no time anymore, Roadblock has to go home and pick up his new threads before next year's line hits the stores. Cobra Commander's beef with Firefly is still making as much sense as it ever did. Dude wants to get rid of a quasi-capable operative like Firefly, yet Road Pig is his most trusted lieutenant? Maybe it makes sense, after all. Didn't Stalin purge all his best guys, too? ![]() Cobra sends their entire air force to kill the Joes in their sleep, because the Joes have deactivated all their radar equipment. They don't need it, because they have a Native American with SUPERHUMAN powers! He can see and hear the approach of a fleet of 50 helicopters.

76! I don't count this as an actual appearance, but he'll clock one as a redshirt in a few. Far cry from nowadays, when he's a big star.
