He probably marked it as $300 for insurance purposes, to recoup postage if the post office screwed up. Crap like this is why I do not mail overseas anymore.

Yup. Unfortunately man, we the seller have to get insurance to recoup especially if we are shipping to other countries. This is probably one of the main reasons so many people refuse to ship to Greece or Italy.
I'm afraid you can't really blame the seller on this one, it has more to do with your countries import laws. If you really want it looks like you will have to pay for it. Otherwise it will probably just sit in customs for all eternity unless one of the customs workers decide their kid needs a new toy.

Hey, I've this kind of experience, but the seller told me before it shipped that she wrote the value of my TD for $400 (well I asked about how much she valued it because at first she didn't want to ship overseas), I won it at $148. So after I got the tracking number and my package arrived at my customs, I went there and bring my invoice, so the customs just cost my taxes by the invoice. if I didn't show them the invoice, it could cost me $180 just for the taxes.. and so with $148, only cost me around $50..

Did you ask the Seller directly about the fee issue and talk about cancelling the auction, per his policy on returns? If you can both walk away from this it might be for the better. Maybe he'd cooperate.
I ship overseas on my EBay auctions, I've been lucky to never have had to ship something that big or costly. Good Luck! |

prime example of why I don't ship internationally. the seller was just protecting himself but because you have to pay more for it, the first thing you want to do is trash his feedback.
