Me and the wifey and 2 friends went to Target after church today. Want my rec room more spacious to display joes so decided to move a desk that was wide, and buy a 5 space bookshelf to display. As I finish assembling the cheap hunk of trash fell faster than David Hasselhoff's career. Got lucky none of my stuff got damaged the only minor thing, my Stinger almost got flatten. This is 2nd and FINAL time I buy cheap-ass shelves at Target, WM, etc. Anybody got an idea how to build a good shelf for displaying figures???

Ikea is a store that sells all kinds of stuff, including shelving and display cases.

QUOTE=Joseph;1967004]I found a shelf at Big Lots that fits perfectly in the walk-in closet in the guest room. It's perfect for my Star Wars figures and the bottom shelf accomodates Jabba the Hutt just right. It didn't collapse when we got it home, but it's a furniture-related story.[/QUOTE] |

From what I read in a yahoo news article (take it for what it is) apparently Ikea is cheaper in price and has better style than Target's REstyle brand of furniture.
Personally, My wife loves the Target stuff, we have two bookcases, a TV Stand, Panty, two cabinets, 4 drawers, a small shelf unit and a wine rack. These things are holding all of our plates, silverware, books DVDs, large gem spheres, etc... so far we've had these up for a few years and no problems (Well the bottom of one of the drawers almost fell out, but that would be because of the added weight of a 15 pound cat jumping into it ) |

I bought a black shelf from walmart that currently is holding alot of heavy stuff fine, i think it was like 30 bucks. Maybe you just got a defective one with weak spots in the board?

Or you could just buy hardwood and do it yourself. I have next to no carpentry skills and I built all three toy rooms from scratch. Shelves are pretty easy.

I definitely need a shelf or something to display all my (non anime) figs, but I can never commit to anything. LOL. I will probably end up trying to make one myself or buy something real cheap and try and mod it.
Large gem spheres are awesome!
