I feel this will be Kobe's last ring, the Lakers struggled through these playoffs and I dont see them getting any better next season or the next few seasons.

Here's where I disagree though...this may or may not be Kobe's last ring we don't really know that. However struggles through the playoffs is what helps build teams and get them mentally tough. Knowing that they've been in these battles before and how to still win despite struggling is a huge key for success and advancing. I actually think that with the exception of Kobe and Fish who are 30+ they have a young team and great foundation to build upon for at least a few more years to come. I do think they need to get better defensively and find someone to help strengthen their perimeter defense, but to say they won't get better next year or for years to come is a bit of a stretch. We have no clue what moves management will make in the offseason and for all we know we could comeback even stronger. Case in point the mid season trade for Gasol last year..everyone said the lakers were an 8th seed at best (last year) and would be swept in the first round...then a gift from memphis and we finish with the top spot in the west and make it to the finals. Also to further my point we didn't have much of a struggle the whole way there and look what happened we got thumped by Boston on the grandest stage of all. This year we have to fight battles and struggle the whole way there and look...we're about to win another championship

Kobe does still have at least 5 or 6 good years in him. The supporting cast has some spots(Odom, Ariza) that will be free agents, but besides Portland, I really don't see anyone out west that can challenge them. Spurs are way to old and Duncan is going down hill. When they lose him they will be lottery bond for years on end. Houston could cause a problem, but Tracy Mcgrady has way to many miles to keep up with Kobe and Yao can't stay healthy. New Orleans won't pay taxes and Utah will always be a second round team. They could get to the finals a few more times and who knows what will happen? I will be happy when Kobe wins his 4th ring. Second best ever behind Jordan as far as shooting guards.

gonna be hard to pay kobe, gasol, bynum, odom, and ariza. but you really need them all. without odom, no backup for gasol and the injury/foul prone bynum (man, this guys hacks me off. your 7 feet tall, YOU CAN BLOCK SHOTS, DON'T FOUL GUARDS, STAY IN THE GAME!!!! . without ariza, you lose the explosiveness, wing defender, 3 ball.
i'd love to see them add some shooters. farmar ans sasha just aren't getting it done. they would be unbeatable if they did. |

I think Odom will be gone next year, and they will resign Ariza to a bigger contract. Bynum will be worked into a trade somewhere. I believe Lakers will go after Ron Artest so they can beef up their defensive game.
