I'm a pretty big baseball fan, always have been, always will be. Tonight was the most exited I've been for a non-Brewers game since McGwire's record breaking run at the end of the 1998 season. I can only think of a handful of games I can remember being so stoked for, and they include McGwire, Ripken breaking Gehrig's consecutive game streak, going to a couple playoff games in Phoenix a couple years back, and other historically significant games (potential 3000th hit or 500th HR games). He was absolutely phenominal tonight. 7 IP, 14 ks, ZERO BB! That's just sick.
There hasn't been a debut this anticipated in years, and I'm really glad I was able to watch. Finally, for the first time since McGwire's 1998 season (which has since been disgraced), there is a player I feel compelled to go see just to say I watched him. I'm sure he's going to bring a lot of people to the ballpark. I know when the Nats come to Phoenix, I'm going to make it a point to go see him pitch. Anyone else watch(ing) the game? |

Yah, that was pretty darn amazing. He struck out 14... and not like wussy strikeouts either... he was blowing pitches by hitters and making them look bad with his nasty sick changeups. That guy is scary... of course it was the Pirates. LOL.
I know he was probably on a pitch count, but I would have loved to see him pitch the full nine. |

Talk about living up to the hype, my goodness. I think the Nationals really surprised people this year, but how well they're doing, and this will definitely help them out even more.
