I know the large X-wing rakes in twice the money, but its also twice the size and twice as likely to just sit on the shelf. The A WING/B-WING/and X-Wing were all quite affordable and just around, if not under $30. The larger X-wing, while cool, is a pain in the ass imo. What is it with LEGO that they are going for larger is better? The minis were f---ing great, but now you have to sign up for the BRICK JOURNAL to get access to these little sets. LEGO now has a mini-midi scale, wtf does that mean, I dont know, Im figuring its like ACTION FLEET size. I havent bought the MF yet, its exclusive to Walmart. SW is now entering its 30 year anniversary of ESB. LEGO just extended their contract by 2011. What happens then, I dont know, Im sure LEGO will keep it going on such an evergreen theme as SW, especially the ORIGINAL TRILOGY. I guess LEGO cant have two sizes at the same time, like they are doing with the MF, one is 40$ and the other is 500$. Im not really thrilled with alot of the current stuff, Im hoping the ESB anniversary will garner more anniversary kits re-issues with the fighters. The snowspeeder is definately back, the Awing is back with the Admiral Akbar set, the 50$ X-wing is still ever present and of course the DV tie X-1. The tie intercepter is interesting, but not really my bag. If they ever do the EBON HAWK or the OUTRIDER, I will have to buy them. Can you imagine the LEGO games for KOTOR and SHADOWS OF THE EMPIRE, you could do it all over again!!
So is more really more or are we going to head back to less is more and see smaller vehicles and kits? Personally, I miss the smaller stuff, the collectors stuff is great, but what child is going to go for a set with over 500 pieces is takes a good 3 hours to put together? I know new starfighter sets are coming for later this year, but the classic stuff just looks better imo. Will LEGO change tactics and just re-issue old kits with new logos and slight changes? Who knows, I wouldnt put it past them and with the anniversary now here or coming up, it would make the most sense for them to go that route and turn a stronger profit. Are you talking about the X-wing that can hold a mini-figure? I was thinking no becuase, while not crazy expensive they are not under $30. If it is, I see this all the time at TRU.

I think they may do some more smaller sets, because they have brought back the sets with 2 figures + small model. Those were great for army building since they were only around $10. |
