I could be mistaken, but I think the lifetime warranty only applies to hand tools such as sockets, wrenches and hammers and things like that. They know that their power tools are crap and they have a limited warranty. Their tape measures suck too. Rigid makes a really nice chop saw. I am a tradesman and use mine allot. I have never had a problem with it.

yeah its just hand tools on the lifetime warranty. I wouldnt touch the current craftsman power tools... I have been going with dewalt and even some B & D when I find it on deep discount.

Yes I worked at Sears once upon a time. The warrenty is for hand tools.
If you want that on any Craftsman tool you have to pay for the product protection plan. Even that is only good for the first 2-3 years I believe. What you probably don't know is that other companies make the tools for Craftsman. They actually build them using inferior methods and materials so that you are enticed to buy the replacement plan.I looked at enough of the tools to tell the difference and somebody (one of the oldtimers) told me about this. Craftsman is usually for hobbyist and DIYers. If you are a tradesperson or use them on any regular basis do yourself a HUGE favor and invest in a better brand. I have some fun stories about my sentence at Sears. (not really that's what you call sarcasim) Oddly enough Craftsman at one time was really good. I've seen people bring in old models that had long been out of production and they were still working.
