I don't mind Jar Jar. I just wish he wasn't used so extensively in the first movie. From the standpoint of appealing to kids, it worked... That said, the distaste for him isn't so much that he was a bad character, rather ( I think ) that he was a goofy character who recieved too much screen time allowing him to go from perky comic relief to annoying.
