I don't think this strike will do anything... there are a lot of big trucking firms that are non-union and would fire anyone who would go on strike and anyone striking probably has such a low profit margin that they couldn't afford to do it for very long.

I'd have to agree with you, Paul. Today's market conditions are brutal for Logistics. I think you made 2 very strong points:
There are too many Non Union Carriers that would "pick up the slack" (even though they'd charge an arm & a leg too..rightfully so though. Supply/demand). The Union Carriers don't make enough to strike for more than 2 weeks or so. Plus, with American Axle on strike, carriers already lost enough money with lack of freight moves from GM Processing Centers to Packing Plants to Parts Distribution Centers, etc. |

To tell you the truth I just wish everyone, I mean everyone in the U.S. should all go on strike for one day. Call up your jobs tell them your not going in to work that day. Don't go to the store, don't get gas, don't do anything that the F'in government is going to make money that day. I say the best day to do it would be Memorial day. So the government cant remember that we the people have had it with this government's ways.

My wife and I made $151,000.00 this year. The taxes killed us. She also got a bonus for $37,000. They took $20,000 in taxes and other $H!T. So to tell you the truth I don't look at me being rich or middle class. I still live check by check and the government keeps getting richer and the middle class gets poorer. I'm sorry guyz I'm just a little pissed off because I just got my pink slip today and I went to unemployment and there must have been over 200 people talking the same $h!t that we are talking about. I knew this was coming so it's not like I didn't know I just was busting my @$$ there and I thought maybe they would give a pass but I guess not........

Where do you live? NY or LA maybe? That's a good bit of money to still have to be living paycheck to paycheck. BTW - The government isn't getting richer. If is was, we wouldn't have a massive national debt. It's the friends of certain members of our government *cough*Bush/Cheney*cough* that are reaping the profits. |

A co-worker told me that the truckers have hired biker gangs to threaten and harass scabs especially grape cola hauling ones
