Vintage 1984 Marvel Captain America Action Figure - Mattel - Toys "R" Us
how totally random is this? do they find this stuff on inventory days at warehouses? so strange...

I think they took the cost of the original retail @ landed freight value, multiplied by the ratio of square footage x year x cost to store the product on said footage + fractional cost of utilities, heating / cooling / overhead at said warehouse, and arrived at a denominational price.
That, or some 15 year old with pimple zits thought the number 69 would be cool than backed it down so he wouldn't get in trouble.

This happened to me in 1990/91 at Target. I was picking up the latest wave and in the pile of un-pegged that had been left from kids sorting through them, I found a MOC Crimson Guard v1. I was floored. Now this was long before the internet and Master Collector and any kind of communication to a collectors base, so I never saved the receipt to prove my good fortune. I have that figure to this day, still MOC. It joins my $18 1982 MOC Grunt (straight arm) and my $12 1985 MOC General Hawk. Oh yes, and since I am in the mood to brag a bit: I have an original alley viper MOC that I bought from Toy Liquidators for 1.67...

i seen a tron figure last year, the seller was actually brians toys, but tru was doing the middle man thing, this is probably the same scenario
