I bring up this topic because I am working on a Bruce Lee custom. What is your opinion? Is Bruce Lee as good as or better than a Ninja? Would you say that he is the best? If not the best then who would you consider the best?

For me, Bruce Lee and Ninjas are like apples and oranges.

Bruce Lee created modern martial arts. I think even that is an understatement.
Everything, be it sports or music or art has its champion...Michael Jordan, Eddie Van Halen, etc...Bruce Lee is that to martial arts. Comparing Bruce to Ninja...uhhh, you cant really do that, Ninjutsu or Ninpo is a different thing all together...Ninjas back when, the short version to the story were assasins..thats what "ninja" means. Bruce Lee in his prime I dont know anyone that could beat him in the ring, even when he got taken out, it was a cheap shot. Youre talking about almost a freak of nature and miracle of the human body. The guy weighed 180 and was curling 70 lb dumbells. Jeet Kune Do was the mixture of every art..."your only limit should be having no limits" A great human being, a damn good actor....and the greatest martial artist to ever walk the Earth...watch Enter The Dragon...you will never see shit like that again! |

Are we talking what was most likely historic ninja (assuming the most rational skills and abilities on the assumption they were real) or hollywood ninja?

No martial artist could stop an arrow you don't see coming.
The real life (not hollywood) ninja wins.

Thats like saying who was better Bruce Lee or a gun?
Ninjas and Lee are apples and oranges. Put it this way...I would say if you put Lee in with a bunch of Ninjas, he would hold his own doing whatever they were doing. If you put any ninja, save for an Arashikage one (just making a point) face to face with Lee, or made one of those ninjas do his training routine.....it wouldnt happen. The Dragon kicks ass! |

A real ninja wouldn't face Lee one on one. He'd have traps set up and obstacles or whatever to take away Lee's advantage or even more likely, just sit back at a distance and take Lee out.

That is def true.....but Lee being Lee would get around that stuff.
Again its apples and oranges, anyway you turn this it borders on "are we talking movie plot or real life" They did an article in Black Belt magazine years ago called The Dragon Vs. The Greatest...about Lee fighting Ali, both in their prime. It was almost impossible to tell the tale because of the variables and the fan base....of course it ends in a draw. How about this...How would Bruce Lee fare as a member of the G.I. Joe team?? Remember...he was hired by a secret service to infiltrate the island on Enter The Dragon.... |

The Cobra Troopers line up, take aim, shoot Lee down.
Wait, Cobra can't hit anything larger then a CD. Lee runs up and knocks 'em all senseless. Lee wins.
