I just bought the ROC Sting Raider, which comes with 2 figures in the box. The box itself is smaller than a Bravo Vehicle box, but larger than an Alpha Vehicle box.
I don't know if the smaller size, when compared to a Bravo, is due to the fact that there is supposedly "assembly required" as stated on the box for the ROC Sting Raider. However, going from the box for the 25th Sting Raider, where the toy comes fully assembled, the Sting Raider would probably have been a Bravo Vehicle, rather than an Alpha Vehicle. That being the case, what do you guys think of the $20.00 price point - fair or not? Last year, the 25th Sting Raider retailed at $15.99 with 1 figure included. If in fact, the ROC Sting Raider should be considered a Bravo Vehicle then it is $5.00 less, making it the least expensive Bravo Vehicle to come out as yet and with 2 figures. However, if the ROC Sting Raider is smaller, so as to be more appropriately classified as an Alpha Vehicle, or simply compared with the 25th price, then, that 1 extra repaint figure (with minimal accessories) cost $5.00 all things being equal. What is interesting, taking inflation into account at roughly 4% per year, we have reached the point where $1 spent during 1984/1985 is approximately equivalent to $2 now in 2010. According to YoJoe.com, the Water Moccasin retailed for $6.49 in 1984, which means it should be retailing in the $13.00-$15.00 price range in the here and now, if the costs of production all rose with inflation [not everything rises with inflation, for example, I think the McChicken sandwich has been $1.00 for the better part of the past decade]. I stared at it yesterday and after a long self debate, I agreed that it was too ugly for me.

Deal!
Passed up a 25th Sting Raider at comic store for $24 and never saw one since. Went to TRU to look for Artic Doc, they only had one Sting Raider and I copped it. Stoked. Swamp viper is kinda lame/sorta cool, but I really dig Copperhead's kit. Pink not so bad, but I like bright Joes. |

$20 Is fine for what you get. I had the original water moccasin and loved it.
But, the paint on this is putting me off and I'm not a big fan of either figures included. |

I don't care for it. I just don't think the vehicle and especially the figures fit into the ROC or POC universe.

I said Deal because I bought one. Even though there are complaints about the coloring, it gives fans a chance to get it at a reasonable price who missed it during the 25th/ME days!
