I kept comcast for internet but cancled all the TV service over a cust srvc issue. I miss having 'on-demand' by Direct TVs' DVR seems to work fine (love the pausing and what not, not sure if Comcast was doing that when I dropped 'em)

I have actually had both and I much prefger Directv's DVR offering comcasts On-Demand is much better than DirectV's.
Also if you are into the HD then Dtv is the way to go! |

I say Comcast their On Demand selections make it so you don't even need a DVR.
Who wants to sign a contract... Direct TV thats who. They want you to sign a 2 year agrement screw that. |

I had comcast, Dish Network and DirecTV
Above all my DTV has been the best. Great channels, perfect picture, ability for 1080P movies, the OnDemand isnt the best but I rarely use it, DVR has worked perfectly and you can even hook up external hard dive for all the space you want, customer service has been perfect, gotten alot of free months and good deals over the years, and HD channels are incredible. The menu and layout has been great, no complaints at all. Comcast was and still is the worst POS ever. The boxes always break, the customer service is the worst and the layout is horrible. I have comcast for internet and it works but am waiting for FIOS. You couldnt pay me to give up my DTV for anything. As far as contracts, yes they make you sign a contract but I have had mine for over 5 years and would never switch so it dosent bother me. |

I have Dish TV, and the DVR is included in to package. Plus, you can record 4 programs simultaneously anwatch it on more than one TV. Direct charges you for everything.
Please note: you can set up a pc to work as a DVR, and you can buy DVRs now.

as far as DirecTV vs DishNetwork, just ask yourself these questions: -Is NFL football important to me? If so, DirecTV has a monopoly on Sunday Ticket. -Do I want a reliable robust receiver (STB) with 3 tuners (2 sat, 1 ota), an awesome and intuitive user interface and not have to wait 3 seconds after I hit the button on the remote for the channel to change? If so you want DishNetwork. -Do I like the high tech looking blue light on the front of my receiver (STB)? If so, you want DirecTV.
