I'm in the minority, but I'm a Leno fan. I do think this whole situation stinks, though. I've read the interviews (from Jay, quotes from Conan, and even Letterman), and NBC is who is truely to blame. Leno was forced out before he was ready. He was on top at the end, and now Douche Baggery at the network may cost him that. They were trying to avoid a repeat of the Leno/Letterman debacle and eneded up with something worse. Leno has tried to remain a class act, but you can tell it wasn't his idea to move on. Now Jay's work is tarnished, Conan's lifelong dream is trashed, and Letterman will probably reap the benefits in ratings. Wonder what NBC will do next time around?

Both parties don't look good, but NBC is to blame. Point the finger there. People are wrongly blaming Leno for taking away Conan's job. NBC wanted it both ways. Jay and Conan on NBC. Years ago NBC contracted Jay to step down and Conan to take over. But the problem was Jay's rating were still on top. Nbc expected Jay to get old and slow down. Never happened. Jay at 10pm still had higher ratings than Conan. No surprise who Nbc went with.
The debate about who's funnier is kinda irrelevant. Letterman comes off as an angry old man. His sex scandal does not endear him. Conan's humour is very collegiate. And mostly about his pale skin and red hear for gawd's sake. His jokes are not even complete sentences. Jay isn't cutting edge either. His light humour is most sellable to the mainstream masses. It's very telling who's talk show Obama appeared on, Jay's: The king of late night. |

Trooper13, you could not be any more on the mark if you tried. That is how I feel.
The sad truth is that this is more of the attitude of the country then just a show!!! How many people in corporate America or even in small business put in their dues year after year all the while supporting the company and their bosses only to get screwed over due to someone elses failure? Thats what this is about Leno failed and he has to take Conan down instead of being a MAN and owning up to it! This behavior is indicitive on whats wrong with soceity today.

There are MUCH GREATER injustices in the world than Conan losing his show and they do not get 20 million for their hardship. I think people having time to write into NBC about their favorite show being cancelled and not having time to write to their congressmen about real issues is more indicative of today's society
