Remember Hollywood 101, movies and television are not made for the smartest person, they're made for the dumbest. They call it universality though.

It's got absolutely nothing to do with the general public being stupid or anything like that. Honestly, it's kind of silly to even think so, no offense to anyone.
Is it really that hard to accept that the general public just has more open tastes? We're all fanboys here, and being a fanboy means you get dedicated and pretty single minded when it comes to the genres and things you like. Vast majority of people don't have the same mindset we do. The thought that they should be upset because a movie is remaking something from their childhood, that never even crosses their minds. And it's not stupidity. It's just that they don't have the fan mentality. Simple as that. |

Eh, i like some pretty dated and corny scheiße. At the end of the day remakes and reboots are an inevitability. Hollywood is pretty damn lazy. |

You might not, but apparently alot of other people do, since they keep getting made and doing well.
We're in the minority when it comes to this kind of stuff. It's not laziness so much as it's catering to the market. The market wants it, the market gets it. Why do you think there are so many copycat stuff that happens after a major hit? Harry Potter, how many other books of that kind came out afterwards? Alot. There's a new movie series, directed by Christopher Columbus funny enough, that would never have happened if it hadn't been Harry Potter. Twilight and True Blood allowed Vampire Diaries. And many more examples.

I don't mind if they remake a movie I never liked because I don't care how they do it but when they remake a movie I like, I want it to be good or I'll get mad, lol.

Yet Konigstiger , $91,379,051.00 dollars says differently as far as Friday the 13th is concerned. Out of 12 films only Freddy versus Jason beats it at the box office.......does that not tell you something?

I think there are alot of people who have this weird fetish for charbroiled pedophiles killing people in their dreams, with a corny joke thrown in for laughs.

That they do..... as you said the Nightmare is a perfect example of a film that does not need to be remade.
And from what I hear the revamp is tossing out the child pedophile storyline....... so thats gotta be a good thing, right? |

That is amazing that movie made that much. I don't know if I could consider that a remake as much as I would condsider that a reset. And they did a great job because I like the newer, faster, smarter VOOHEES that just doesn't strut through the woods. Now as far as the new Nightmare on Elm Street is concerned, I am already disappointed in the amount of makeup that is not on Freddy!! He just ain't burnt up enough and I don't see him being as great as Robert Englund.
