In recession, guess what things go up: beer and alcohol
But I'd imagine entertainment like a movie would go up as well. People need something to take their minds off things and make themselves feel better.

Even Shakespeare stole all his ideas. Originally has been dead for ages.

So true, so true. There are recycled ideas and themes but its how you tell the story. That is why you cannot copyright an IDEA or a THOUGHT....... You have to copyright the script.

Eh, i know it seems like a new phenomenon, but Hollywood has been playing the rehash game almost since the beginning of the industry.
Sometimes it works, most times not. |

Look at the rise of Saw movies and reality TV. Just because something works doesn't mean it's any good. Thus most remakes sucking donkey rod. |

It seems we crave remakes and familiar properties though. If something comes from too far out left field we furiously run away from it. When it's something we know and it's a safe option it's comforting.

If you are going with quality...... then you have a valid point even if I do not entirely agree... if you are going by the all mighty dollar then remakes/reboots/etc are definitely a money maker which equals win for the production companies.

It's got absolutely nothing to do with the general public being stupid or anything like that. Honestly, it's kind of silly to even think so, no offense to anyone.
Is it really that hard to accept that the general public just has more open tastes? We're all fanboys here, and being a fanboy means you get dedicated and pretty single minded when it comes to the genres and things you like. Vast majority of people don't have the same mindset we do. The thought that they should be upset because a movie is remaking something from their childhood, that never even crosses their minds. And it's not stupidity. It's just that they don't have the fan mentality. Simple as that.

Money is always gonna be the final factor in movies. |
