Just some notes:
If you don't want to carry a gun, carry a knife. I suggest looking into Cold Steel's "Spike" series. They're nifty little full-tang fixed blades that you can carry on a beaded chain (included) around your neck and the pommel will sit just at your belly button, ideal for a quick, in-obvious and unexpected draw. Another knife that is great to protect yourself with is the "punching knife" or "Push Knife". These things are nast with short jabs and can usually drive your point home, literally. Also, it's not easy to disarm. My favorite blade is the Karambit. In Iraq, I carry a Cold Steel "Steel Tiger" Karambit. Some folks knock these knives, but they work if you know how and when to use them. They are great for when someone is really close. You can actually disembowel someone with it. Even if the cutting edge gets dull, the blade will still rend and tear flesh away. It is one of the very, very few knives meant to be wielded blade-down. Stun guns are a better deterrent than an actual weapon. I've got one and I've let my roommate zap me with it three times. It hurts, but you don't "pass out" like they do in the movies. It just really, really hurts and pisses you off. http://www.benchmade.com/products/551 |

BTW - if anyone has a Beretta Neo - you need to check with the store you bought it from there has been a recall on the safety. They have been firing even in the "safe on" position.
